Let's learn and teach, expand the scope of knowledge
Greetings from me to the community members, I will like to participate in this contest cuz it's worth being part of and will writing and educate my fellow steemians on what I know thank you.
✅ Describe what we are going to learn today from your profession.
From my profession as a student we are going to be learning about the elastic properties of solids. This is a topic which is been taught to students,in the course of studying physics.
✅ Share it in tutorial form step by step or whatever way you prefer to do it.
- Firstly we begin with elasticity. Elasticity can be referred to as the capability of a substance to be able to regain it's normal shape and size after the external distorting force has been removed.
The next thing I will be educating my fellow steemians about elastic material. An elastic material is any solidified object that is able to regain it's original shape and size after the external distorting force is been removed.
We can distorted the shape and size of an elastic material by either compressing or stretching it. Any elastic material can recover it's original shape and size immediately the stretching or compressing force is been removed. This then moves us to talk about hooke's law
HOOKE'S LAW
If a force is been applied to an elastic spring or string, the length of the material rapidly increases by a certain amount. When the force is then removed, the original length returns to it's normal value. If by chance the stretching force is doubled, the extension of the spring also doubles. This relationship between it's stretching force and the extension is given by what is called hooke's law.
Hooke's law states that provided that the elastic limit of an elastic material is exceeded, the extension of the material will be directly proportional to the force applied.
In the course of studying elasticity you must come in the following symbols.
B : Breaking point
EB : Plastic region
OE : Elastic region
E: Elastic limit
P: Proportionality limit
Y: Yield point
Elastic limit can be seen as the limited force at which the elastic material does not return to it's normal length/size when the stretching force is removed.
Yield point is the point at which the elastic material loses its elasticity permanently and will actually become plastic.
Solving elasticity equations
A force of 0.8 N stretches an elastic string by 2cm. Find the elastic constant of the string.
F = ke
0.8 N = k x 2 m /100 = k x 2 m
k = 0.8 /0.02 = 40 Nm -1
✅ Share your cautionary guidance on this topic for others.
The cautionary to this topic is that individuals should not used iron rod as an elastic material because in that process the person might get injured at the process.
Elastic material has the ability to regain it's original shape after the distorting force is been removed so know the kind of things you refer to as elastic materials.
I will love to invite @ahmneska,@anthony002,@bonaventure24,@inspiracion and also @josepha to participate in this contest.
Thanks for being part of my post. !!!
