I don't know where you live but for sure the financial "burden"as you like to call it lies on the father alone but even if I wonder why not go for just one child? Why all those children if you can hardly stay alive yourself? Also, why forcing all your children to study, be a doctor if they like to do something else?
For over 50 years most women in Western countries have worked, at times 2 or 3 jobs and you know what? They still raise the children alone and by now they have heart attacks and have burnout. Also, the housekeeping is still their job and Dad? He says he has to "babysit" if he needs to take care of his own children. "babysit" already the choice of this word says enough.
What we also face is men changing into couch potatoes while women work. Another problem is the high fees which make it hard for everyone to study. By now visiting a school, learning a profession, or visiting a university is something for the rich, not for the average child or the poor ones. We already see that who pays is accepted not the smart children.
My mother worked so my father could study and once he finished he dumped her. I think it's a bad thing if a women works to give a partner a better life. If you want to study you should work for it yourself. Find a job and pay for your fee.
It is what my son does. After he is back from the university he goes to his job. That is how it works with us: working students. This is also important because no employer wants you if you never worked and only studied.

So sorry about the challenge that your mum faced but that does not define every man. Your father do heartless to have left your mum after her sacrifice but not every man is as heartless as your father and I am saying this from experience. Families should have an understanding of how many kids they can carter for.
And forcing your kids to go to school is not a good thing to do. My parents never made it seem like a do or die affair to go to school. Having work experience is of great importance as employers value experience.
It's unfortunate that I lost my dad to death but I am working so hard to make sure I give my mum the best life since she all I have now.
No not every man but many. Look around you, search the internet. Where do all those single mothers come from? Any idea how many foreign men dump their wife as soon as they have the visa?
You will shocked. You believe the phrase: I will go buy cigarettes (said by a man who never returns) is made up? Let's not pretend women have the same rights as men. They are dumped for a younger model and if a woman is doing the same she is scolded and called whore. How come? What gives men the right to do as they like over the back of women and play the dandy?
With us school is law. If children not go they will be taken away from the parents and the parents can go to prison. That is the situation with us.
It doesn't mean I agree it's fine with me if my children prefer to work or do so abroad but the issue is also that they say they already went to school for that many years and if they stop now they will not receive a diploma. I doubt that is still interesting because you can also make a career via the employer more and more do this and also pay for extra courses. It sounds like a good option to me since you have to be very lucky to find a job these days (and for how long will that option still be there if not only AI takes over but also more people have nothing to spend? That will reduce jobs as well).
I am sorry to hear about your dad. Mine was a good man, at least I saw him that way as I was still a young child. I hope you and your mum have a good life together.

No man has the right to treat a woman like trash or even look down on a woman, same goes to men.
It is only a stupid man that will dump his wife because why did you even marry her in the first place? You're supposed to love a woman before you choose to settle down with her so why will you marry her and then dumb her later?
Finding a job these days does not only require luck but requires connection. It's very difficult to find a job these days without connection.
My father was actually a good man and good to my mum but the cold hands of death took him away from us and I pray my husband never have a reason to be bad to me. I appreciate your comments.
I wonder too why get married if there's no love but on the other hand love is also something that can grow. I saw that with my grandparents. Perhaps it was a plus my grandfather was a soldier and rarely home?
Also, a minus can be if we get involved with someone at a young age. People get older and it's hard to spend 60 years or longer together if both change due to education and different interests which is a normal thing to do. People grow and it's not unlikely it's growing apart if they stop talking or meet others with the same interests.
If it comes to my parents I don't think they married out of love but because it wasn't allowed. It's a bad start if you marry out of anger. Next to that, my father had dreams, wishes, and demands but nothing to offer. A jobless man isn't a great start and a heavy load especially if you have to work to make his dreams come true.
I hope for you as well that your husband will appreciate what you do and that you appreciate him as well. At times we have to take a few steps back to see what someone does for us and to keep the swing in life and a relationship.
It's good to have hobbies and some time for yourself so both have something to share.
