Google Pixel 5's wimpy camera is driving me to the iPhone 12

I don't find any of those negatives deal breakers for me. But one I do and is not mentioned here is the mmw h/w tax. Why is there no $100 cheaper version of this phone (like there is for 4a 5g) for those of us not on Verizon (I'm on Google Fi) who have no need for that useless mmw h/w but are being forced to pay for it? Don't make me pay for things that are dead weight to me. I like a lot about this phone but that will keep me from buying it.
