Winner announcement "Grafting of trees"

Hope everyone is well here to announce the winner of the contest even though the number of contest participants is very low but thanks to everyone for participating. santalization is a horticultural technique of joining parts of two different trees in order to propagate them. In this process a scion, which is a branch from the variety of tree needed, is grafted onto a rootstock that supplies the roots required for the tree. Two parts are sown together with equal care and are sewn back until healed and grown as one plant.

This method helps Giffard to maintain the genetic purity of the new tree and scion variety in terms of fruit type, size and disease resistance. Those grown through graftage will indeed generally be less variable in their growth habit and fruitfulness than those that have resulted from seed, which is often much more variable because of cross pollination. Multiplication through grafting is perhaps the most common technique dependent on fruit tree production because it helps maintain desirable characters in successive generations.
