Hello and greetings everyone, regarding to all my fellow steemians across the globe from @john247, it's a pleasure to have in blog this week which i will be taking part in this agricultural contest titled; Popular crops in your area organized by @selina1.

What is the type of soil for farming in your area?

Basically there are different types of soil namely Loamy, clay and sandy soil which all have their different uses and the best among them for planting is loamy soil which is mostly used in my area for farming because it has a very high level manure and it creates the perfect soil texture for easy plants growth.
This particular soil aids and gives the farmers hope of better and favourable harvest as well as it prevents erosion, retains moisture, provide essential nutrients etc.

What are the popular crops in your region?

Here in the south eastern part of Nigeria varieties of different crops and vegetables are been planted and harvested in my region such as cassava, maize, groundnuts, yam etc.
Let me go with cassava which is used to produce garri and other starchy foods in my region most farmers in my area cultivates cassava along side with their different crops the reason is because of the high rate of demand for garri, akpu(fufu) which is been processed from cassava apart from that this crops grows well in my region due to the favourable climate and weather condition that is why this particular crops is popular in region.

Explain the importance of farmers in crop production.

Farmers as well as farming sectors has so much importance and impacts to our community and crops production through their responsibility of producing fresh vegetables and fruits that's essential to our health, they are also responsible of producing and providing the vast majority of the world's food supply, this people work every day to make sure you and i have something to eat that's to say they make significant contributions to the country's economic progress and growth.
