Discovering Lake Carezza: A Hidden Gem in the Dolomites
Hello friends of this community! It's been a long time since I last wrote here, but during this period, I've been exploring new places. You know I have a passion for this, partly thanks to social media, and I can't wait to discover new places, especially those that are incredibly beautiful in terms of nature. I always visit them when there aren't many people around. Unfortunately, I'm noticing that lately, mass tourism is somewhat, let's say, destroying these enchanting and magical places. Just a few days ago, early in the morning to avoid large crowds, I went to Lake Carezza, a lake that isn't very busy in the summer but is in the winter because of a Christmas market held there. However, this part of Italy, which is in Trentino Alto Adige, is seeing an increase in mass tourism. Fortunately, many of the people who come for this type of tourism, which I sometimes call "a bit rude tourism," don't wake up early in the morning, so I made sure to go there early. Lake Carezza, with its emerald-colored water as you can see from the photos, is called the "Jewel of the Dolomites." It is situated at about 1,500 meters above sea level and is nestled between the Dolomites, these great mountains, and the spruce forests. Lake Carezza is fed by several springs that travel many kilometers underground and come directly from the Dolomites, likely giving the lake its emerald color because the water comes from glaciers located above the Dolomites. Unfortunately, these glaciers are melting more and more due to rising temperatures. That day, I walked the path that is about one and a half kilometers long, and in about 30 minutes, you can easily walk around the entire lake. In conclusion, I can say that it is always so exciting to visit these places, but on the other hand, my generation also needs to be aware that we must preserve this natural wonder. Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, due to mass tourism, I'm noticing that people are becoming more and more disrespectful, as they leave a lot of trash around, for example. Thank you for reading this post, see you next time!
Many people who have come here to admire this place have also called it the "Lake of Rainbows," especially when it rains, because its waters change color depending on how they are hit by the sun's rays.
