Things to do to encourage young people to become agricultural entrepreneurs.
You all know your steemain @chiagoziee for #Nigeria, a pleasure being here to share my ideas on today's contest. The progress of the young agricultural entrepreneur depends on the activities of the government, they can be the source of growth for the agricultural revolution but can also do otherwise.

What initiatives should the government take to make young people agricultural entrepreneurs? |
---|
The government should start by knowing the crops that the young agriculture entrepreneur wants to produce the most. The government can begin by creating funding schemes, grants, and low-interest loans for young agriculture entrepreneurs to boost production. The government can also aid small-scale farmers through formal marketing by providing market information and facilitating the creation of farmer's cooperatives and groups.
The government can provide business and technical training for young agriculture entrepreneurs. This has to do with training on modern agricultural facilities and practices, financial management, and value addition. The government can encourage entrepreneurs to make use of new technology to increase crop production.
The government should be aware that most of these entrepreneurs don't know much about agriculture. This is why I suggest the creation of an agricultural school where they can understand the ethics of agriculture.
Please tell me in detail which organization helps young people in your area to get financial assistance for agricultural entrepreneurs and what is the interest rate of this loan. |
---|
The organization that I know gives loans to young agriculture farmers is LAPO Microfinance Bank 🏦. The Financial institution helps to grant loans to farmers and loans for business ventures. For agriculture, the loan strategies are as follows.
Facilities range from N50,000 to N500,000 maximum. The methodology can either be individuals, corporate bodies, or groups with a payment duration of 1-12 months, and they help farmers buy, providing a grace of 30 to 60 days. Any prospective client has to be a practicing farmer with verified evidence of existing farming investments.
The benefits that young agriculture entrepreneurs enjoy when they get these loans from this bank are that they don't require collateral for the acquisition of loans, and they also provide capital for all farming activities with a good repayment strategy. They also have people who will advise you on the way to utilize the money given to you and yield good products; they also provide farmers with a low interest rate of 2.95% monthly.
For you to be able to get a loan from them as a farmer you must have the following.
Duly completed application form.
Two recent passport photographs.
Two guarantors.
Current utility bill.
A valid ID ( national ID, voter's card, driver's license, or international passport).
If you are a young agricultural entrepreneur, what crop will you initially produce and why? |
---|
I our cassava farmland
As a young agriculture entrepreneur, I have experience, and I will produce cassava tuber. The reason I will produce cassava tuber is because I am already familiar with the crop, and my parents and I produce this crop on our farmland, so producing it will not be hard because I know its pests and diseases as well as its preventive measures. I will also produce this crop because when it is processed into "Garri", the price is good for making a profit as a young agriculture entrepreneur.
What are the initial challenges as a young agricultural entrepreneur? |
---|
As a young agriculture entrepreneur, you can encounter the following challenges, which can be that you don't have some working tools that can help you succeed fast in the agricultural business. You can also not be able to identify the pest of the crop which you are producing maybe it's your first time engaging in farming activities. As a young agriculture entrepreneur who is still understanding agriculture, you may not have any knowledge about the use of fertilizer or may not know the right fertilizer to use in the production of your chosen crop.
I will like to invite @impersonal, @simonnwige, @josepha, @anthony002, @jonathan0, @aspiya and @ruthjoe to participate in this contest.

As a young entrepreneur in agriculture, the challenges you mentioned are quite common, especially for those just starting out without adequate experience or resources. With a commitment to learning and growing, you can overcome these challenges and create opportunities for success in the agriculture sector.
Good luck, my friend
