Week#4 my garden & crops

I will talk to you today about the corn that I grow. Maize is one of the cash crops of our country. It is a dry season crop sown in winter (November to February) in our country when the soil temperature is 12-14°C. Maize grows best in sunny areas. It takes 5 months or 140 to 150 days to mature corn.

For corn cultivation, first of all, the land should be cultivated with organic and chemical fertilizers. If the land is suitable for sowing corn seeds, one seed should be sown 6 to 8 inches at a depth of 2-2.5 inches. The distance between one row of corn is 22-24 inches. Corn seeds germinate within 72 hours of sowing and are fast growing corn plants. First irrigation and application of chemical fertilizers on maize plants at the age of 4 leaves or 15 to 20 days. Insecticides are sprayed when insect infestation occurs in corn plants.

Maize has a good disease resistance but is constantly being attacked by new diseases and pests so regular monitoring and diagnosis is imperative. When the corn plant is 7 to 25 days old, the leaves turn white in winter, for which I spray mencozeb, and after spraying mencozeb, I spray boron to turn the leaves green, the leaves turn green quickly. The second irrigation should be given when the plant is 2 months old and then the last application of fertilizer. The corn plant pest is the striped beetle which eats the leaves of the corn, causing the corn to become smaller and also eat the fruit. Any liquid insecticide at 55°C should be wetted and sprayed on the plants to control this striped insect.

Of course, corn can play an important role in the economy. Maize is very popular as food and is used as a staple food in many countries. Corn is a healthy food with high nutritional value. Maize cultivation method is very simple and profitable as compared to other crops. Maize is an exportable crop and earns foreign exchange through it. Maize undoubtedly makes an important contribution to the economy.
