Autumn has long been of special importance to Iranians, and our ancestors celebrated the beginning of this season. Mitracana or Mehregan is a festival that was held at the beginning of autumn and the beginning of the new year was during the Achaemenid period.Even today, in some parts of Iran, this ancient tradition is called "Nowruz Wares". Also in the local Pamir calendar, the first day of autumn is called "July".

Mehregan, which was the second most important Iranian holiday after Nowruz, was held every year at the beginning of autumn. In fact, in the Avestan calendar, the year was divided into two seasons, the great summer and the great winter; Nowruz was the celebration of the beginning of the great summer season and the beginning of heat and invertebrates, the celebration of the beginning of the great winter and the beginning of cold.
Mehregan were divided into two festivals; The small Mehregan that were held on the 16th of October and belonged to the properties and the large Mehregan that were held on the 21st of October for the common people.

Some attribute the name of Mehregan to Mehr or Mitra. Mehr is one of the important gods whose name is mentioned in Avesta and is tied to friendship and observance of the covenant and has been introduced as a supporter of truth and correctness and an enemy of lies. Since the Goddess of Mercy was of great prestige and importance, the most glorious celebrations were held on this day. This festival was called "Metracana" in ancient times and was later called "Mehregan".
On the day of Mehregan, the kings set wide tables and received the people of the kingdom. In this reception, food was consumed and wine was brought after the meal; After that, musicians would come and play the tarb. Nuts and snacks were also brought to parliament in gold and silver containers. There is even talk of gold garments weighing a thousand ounces in these meetings. In some cases, he even listened to the advice of the elders and used it in managing affairs.

In Mehregan celebrations, such as the Haft-e-Sin Nowruz table, the Mehregani table or the Mehregani table were spread. The tablecloth, which was spread around the stove, was purple in color and contained a variety of fruits, sweets and snacks, a syrup of hummus or home-made extract diluted with milk and laurel bread, and fruits such as pomegranate, apple, bergamot, There were bergamot, bergamot, elm, white grapes, kunar, hawthorn, azalea and persimmon.

Special nuts were made from seven nuts, including walnuts, almonds, pistachios, hazelnuts, seeds, dried berries, dried figs, and chickpeas. Another dish on this table is a dish called Haft Ghaleh, which is prepared with a combination of wheat, rice, barley, chickpeas, lentils, mung bean and millet.

There were also bowls full of rose water, water, vinegar, thyme leaves, violet flowers, and basil or basil. The headdress, the mirror, the March and the incense, as well as the ever-blossoming flower, which was decorated with branches of cypress, case and turmeric, also adorned the invertebrate table.
