I Love India : Alleppey, Kerala

Hello Steemians. We all know that India is a country of diverse cultural and other heritage. The places here have a lot to offer. From north to south, from east to west, the country keeps amazing you. I would also like to share my experience from one such place where i took a recent trip to. Kerala, also known as God's Own Country is one of the most beautiful places in India. Kerala has several great spots and one such great spot is Alleppey.

Alleppey is famous for it's backwater tours, the houseboat ride. I reached Kerala through flight. I arrived at the Kochi International Airport from where my family and i reached Alleppey through car after a five day tour of Kerala. Well i won't bore you with the the details of the trip. I will straight get to the highlight of the trip, the houseboat ride at Alleppey.

Our houseboat had three bedrooms and a beautiful living room out in the front. The houseboat ride began in the afternoon. We boarded the houseboat at noon and then the ride began. It was a beautiful ride. The view was just awesome. With all the houseboats riding, far and next to each other in the lake surrounded by jungle and a few small towns, it felt like a palace on waters. There were a lot of houseboats of different colours and sizes. Often it felt like a boat race. We also stopped at a few shops by the water where we purchased a few extra things from the locals. For lunch we had fish, prawns and a few south indian dishes. The food was really well cooked. There was also a point where they stopped the boat almost at the middle of the lake for us to enjoy the scenic beauty. They anchored the houseboat near a village at night and then we had dinner. The sunset view was spectacular with the sunlight glimmering at the waters making the view even more delightful. The houseboat had all the facilities. The next day, early morning they started the ride back and by noon we had reached Alleppey.
The houseboat ride was one of the most pleasant experiences, i've ever had.
