I love India : Wagga border ( beating the retreat ceremony)
Hello friends,
This is jyoti singh, basically I am a house wife, but I am also completing my study, Now I am B.Ed first year student.
My husband is doing job in Amritsar,Punjab.
And I was there before taking admission in B.Ed. Now I go there during my college holidays.
What a beautiful city is Amritsar, there are so many places to visit and shopping but today I want to share my experience of "Beating the retreat ceremony" So here is my story of Wagga border, beating the retreat ceremony..
Beating Retreat traces its origins to the early 1950s when Major Roberts of the Indian Army developed the unique ceremony. Beating Retreat ceremony marks an old military tradition. When troops stopped fighting and left the battlefield, before returning to the camps at sunset they would sound of the Retreat. About its history ,I read it from Google.
In December 2019, my in-laws came to visit here. So I went there with all of them. This was my first time when I went there, although I have been there in Amritsar from 2018 April but I didn't get time to visit there.
I live there on batala road ,Bharat Nagar. From there we hired a car and after 1 and half hour, we reached there. It is approx 70 km from my home .
In the parking lot when we reached some sketche artist came there and we asked them to made trio flag on our chicks. My son jessu was looking so cute with this sketch...
Then we went ahead, because My husband was well known there, so we didn't have much problem and we got chance to visit custom gallery and we clicked some pick there..
Then we proceeded following the order and entered in the Golden Gate...
My in-laws got seat in the first row because they are old and me, jessu and my husband got seat in the 5th row. In a few minutes all places are filled by crowd.but in Pakistan side not that much crowd was presented.
Songs of patriotism were playing on loudspeakers both side,Celebrations begins.
Oh my God! What a beautiful scene that was..
Women were running with the flag in their hands, one by one on the parade place after this they all danced. females can do this activity only, males can't do that...I was so excited so I did not noticed That women are just dancing there. There is not a single man . My husband made me notice this.
A BSF jawan was there, who is hosting the whole ceremony. I just felt in love with him. First time I saw a real Hero Infront of my eyes,He was explaining to us in gestures that when we need to loudly cheer up India. He was raising slogans Hindustan Zindabad and Vande Mataram. My son jessu shouted everytime , I was also cheers up my country very loudly every time. I was so happy that I can't explain in words. A secret I want to share about my mother in law that she wanted to go there on the parade place where all ladies was dancing ,yes, she wanted to dance although she is very strict..hahaha
Now you all must have known that what was the vibrations of that place.
The feeling of being an Indian is always in our heart, but after reaching there, it reaches its peak. After going there, I came to know what it would have been like to be drenched in patriotism. I went there in December. It was Very cold, but believe me As soon as the Ceremony started we forgot the cold and We were filled with warmth.
The ceremony lasted for 2 hours. At 6pm
The ceremony ended with the flag being lowered. We came out of the Golden Gate one by one and did some shopping , ate some snacks then we returned by our car. 1500rs he charged for that day.
While returning I was thinking that I would be here again :)
