Open Church: What is something you feel God is teaching you or challenging you to do recently?
Welcome to church! Open Church is a weekly post that aims to be a place where Christians on Steem can hang out, encourage and build up one another, and reflect the love of Christ. The church is not a building, but is made up of people who have been transformed by God’s grace.
Steem is not all about money, but it’s also a community of real people with real needs. So let us be a community of brothers and sisters that can Truly support one another with our real lives. Hope we can put aside the monetary aspect of Steem and enter into authentic fellowship with one another.
Each week I will be putting up a new post with a new topic or theme for discussion. But feel free to come here just to fellowship and be a blessing to one another. Whatever denominational background your from, or if you’re just curious about the Christian faith, everyone is welcome.

Today’s theme is: What is something you feel God is teaching you or challenging you to do recently?
Personally, I am doing a unit in my theology studies on preaching. I feel inadequate as a preacher, but it’s something that God has put on my heart to do more of.
Here’s a song that has been ringing in my head in recent days. It’s one of the songs in the movie God’s not dead. The song is called God is not Dead by the Newsboys. Hope you like it.

I watched the movie, God's not dead acted with a school student versus the Professor as major casts. It was really edifying and challenging

I've come to believe in gods subtle messages....your post is prime example...I joined a church a year ago with its motto..."For those who have given up on religion but not god"...its allowed me a comfortable setting to explore my beliefs including a monday nite mens group that allows open discussion...theres a lot of the christian story I dont buy into but, its times like this when I open up my steem account and find your post at the top...gods whispering in my ear...

something that I have always liked is singing, and I do it frequently, when I am cleaning, when I am driving, in short, I like to sing a lot, that gives me a lot of peace and lately I have felt and thought in to be part of the worship group of My church, but, I don't want it to be emotional, I'm praying, if it's God's will, that they call me to be part of the worship group.
I tried to watch the video, but it gives me an error.
That’s great. Yeah, discerning God’s will is always something we are learning more about as we go. I will pray with you about this, and if God willing, would be wonderful to use your gift and passion to serve God.
Thanks for this post, yeah I am singer, its the ministry God has called me into, but here is what God is confronting me about and that is my prayer life it is one thing God is challenging me about, also my studying life.
Most times I fall a prey of just reading the Bible just to fulfil all righteousness, but there is really more to learn about the Bible.
I pray God helps me settle down at his feet for his utmost teaching.
As for the film "God's not dead", I feel so challenge as a youth. And I have no excuse what so ever to share the gospel of Christ. Jesus says if you are ashamed of him in the public then definitely he too will be ashamed of you before his father.
That boy in the movie wasn't ashamed of God and that was why God stood by him.
There are many out there wallowing in sin which need God's word from us, please let's not disappoint God.

Thanks for sharing @glotokens. I know what you mean. Sometimes we can get into the habit of praying and reading the Bible as part of our duty as a Christian.
But when we turn our focus to Jesus, and pray and read God’s word with our spirit, out of love for God, and in communion with God, then everything changes. I pray that God would stir our hearts to be on fire for Him, and fill us with a desire and passion for Himself as we seek Him.
I too would like to have that courage in sharing the Gospel, and not be ashamed.

I believe God is challenging me to do things I'm afraid of, to not fear rejection (what people may say or think of me) and just be a witness of His love to others. <3
I haven't watched that movie 'God is not dead' yet! I feel like I should (:

Yes, it’s really difficult facing the possibility of rejection. Stepping out of our comfort zones in obedience is always challenging. But when we take that first step, God’s power and presence carries us.
Yeah, it’s a very encouraging movie. I’ve only seen the first one. Apparently, the second one is also really good.
