Mat 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

This is one of the most basic and common sense words of instruction that can be found anywhere. Treat people like you want to be treated. If you want your children to use a respectful tone with you, model the desired tone with them. Do it every single time. Say please. Say thank you! No sarcastic tone or haughty look.

For years I have managed employees. I could tell them what to do, but instead I would ask, “Please will you do this for me?” Treat people with respect and you are more likely to receive the same treatment in return. If no, we still have the satisfaction of treating others the way Jesus instructed. We just do it because it is right and it pleases God.

How do you want to be treated by others?
The best start is to treat other people this way.
