Use your gift wisely and be humble

Text: Numbers chapter 22 verse 6(KJV:Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed).

Balaam according to scriptures had a great prophetic gift. A spiritual gift of being able to place curses or pronounce blessings and it will stand. Either instantly or in the near future.

One argument I want to avoid in this write up is "If Balaam was really a prophet of God or of the devil. Sometimes, men see him to be a soothsayer not a prophet.

However you look at it, the truth remains that he had a way of getting God to talk to him. He is noted to always hear from God especially concerning Israel.

He saw easily into the spiritual realm that he even boasted of himself as the man whose eyes are open... Which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the all mighty, falling into a trance but having his eyes open.

With his great prophetic gift he had, he was able to do both good and evil. He could hurt, change and twist destiny etc. Several times he was visited by Kings and princes. Only by names were Kings bigger than him because he was almost more than a king by virtue of his unhindered prophetic gift.

He was a king maker and a deciding factor on who emerges King even in countries that may not have had a relationship with him. Politicians consult him before declaring intentions and if he was displeased with you, except for a plea he may be provoked to curse you to death.

Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab at the time saw what Israel did to her enemies on the way and was afraid.

Israel defeated every nation that came against her, ranging from Amorites to their victory and escape from Egypt and out of fear needed an antidote to stop Israel from defeating her or waging war against him in the future which may not have been.

Balak having known about God's presence with Israel thought that Balaam's curse will hinder God's protective presence over Israel and subject them to defeat but the reverse was the case.

Balaam accepted the offer in his heart due to financial benefits but God intervened leaving him inconclusive on what to do. Greed for firm and wealth made him confused but chooser to honour God.

Whatever gift God has for you is not for wrong motives but rather to edify the church and spread the goodness of the kingdom either by revelation, salvation, deliverance or the gift of songs etc.

No gift is greater than the other, so stay in your place of calling and ensure you do God's will and follow his standard in all your dealings. Whatever you have, you were given, if you were given why boast.

Pride, greed, love for material things, battle for supremacy, over growing leadership and divine direction has been a major problem with ministers of our time.

Balaam as great as he was, was humbled by God when it concerned Israel.

Use your gift wisely

Once God speaks on an issue, don't fine tune it to favor your selfish interest.

Don't allow anyone no matter how attractive or persuasive, to talk you into wrongdoing.

Understand that your gift, talents and intellect are not meant for yourself alone. Use them in the way that pleases God. Be guided. God bless you.
