Do Not Be Discourage
1 KINGS 19:4-8
while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”
Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”
He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.
The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”
So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
Looking a the story of Elijah and how he asked for God to take his life because he had reached the peak of discouragement but instead of death, God sent him food.
I imagined how a man who had the anointing and power of God could become discouraged but I found out that discouragement is no respecter of persons.
But another man is shown to us who at the peak of discouragement encouraged himself in the Lord. David.
1 SAMUEL 30:6
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
Discouragement hinders one to see the bright side of life, it hinders one to see the end of the tunnel which has a great light and the only person who can get out of discouragement is one who holds unto God.
Discouragement can make one pray amiss without thinking and can make someone make some wrong decisions. God is saying to us all, don't quit, what ever it is we are facing and has caused us to be discouraged, it is just a passing phase all we need to do is hold on to God and we will see that the coast will be clear.
HEBREWS 12:2
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Look up to Him in the face of adversity. Do not be discourage
Sometimes, you have to encourage yourself,
sometimes, you just have to speak victory during the test,
No matter how you feel,
Just speak the word and you will be healed,
Speak over yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord.
Life can hurt you so,
Till you feel there's nothing left.
No matter how you feel,
Speak the word and you will be healed,
Speak over yourself, encourage yourself in the Lord.
All we need as Christians to be strong even when we are supposed to be discouraged is the Word of God. the word of God encourages and builds our inner mind, fencing a strong wall around our ehart agianst the darts and arrows of the devil to make us disocurgae and hopeless about a situation.
Remember to speak God's word over that situation you are facing and see how God will provide for you like He did to Elijah.
