I can't believe that it's day 800 of @mariannewest's Freewrite prompts, just a couple days before New Year's Eve. Everybody is coming over New Year's day to have tamales and black eyed peas, our traditional lunch, and watch college bowls. My mamma always said we had to have a bowl of black eyed peas for good luck. I actually like them so we have them other days of the year also. This year I bought the tamales from a very good friend of mine and they are fabulous, it's his father's recipe. I bought pork and chicken in regular and jalapeno, three dozen of each. I just want to wish everyone a safe and festive New Year's and if you go out, don't drink and drive! 🙏
