I began the piece thinking of "ear-worms" which is slang in English for songs or melodies that get caught in one's head. You find yourself humming little pieces of them and they play back continuously, morphing and merging with other scraps of song unpredictably. How much is writhing around in the recesses of consciousness, pressed down willfully, neglect, or distraction by the next urgent entertainment?
