This is Utrecht Central Station in the Netherlands , the place where my entry for the #powerhousecreatives in house contest entry is taken place. 🇳🇱
Here is the contest blog by @zord189
By the time I reached the train station, he was gone. Let me take you to the beginning, sorry you are offcourse wondering what I am talking about, and I will tell you.
I was 17 when I fell in love with Tom, on holiday in Italy with my parents. We had two wonderful weeks when we finally said goodbye because he left to go back to Belgium. But offcourse with the promise to see eachother soon after the holiday. We wrote eachother and talked about where we would meet because we didn’t have our driverslicence yet. The best option was in the middle between Belgium and the Netherlands and that was Utrecht Central Station. So we both caught the train and were glad about the option to meet again and see if our feelings still were the same as under the Italian sun. I put on my best outfit, and even went to the hairdresser for a fresh cut. My hair was straightened and the blue dress I wore was one of my favorites. I had to catch the train from a subburb of Rotterdam to Central Station and than the intercity to Utrecht. I had money to buy lunch. I took a seat in an half full compartment and watched as the landscape became more green leaving the city. I heard a message from the conductor through the horn and was so surprised when he said we had some problems on the rails and we would have to stop and wait for 10 minutes to go on our way again. That 10 minutes became 35 minutes and I nearly freaked out. Tom was waiting and I would be late. It was 24 years ago and I didn’t have a phone yet. I almost forgot my bag in the train compartment when the train finally arrived on Utrecht Central station. But under the clock in the main hall no Tom! No love from Belgium, he must have thought that the little blond from Rotterdam wasn’t in love, he was wrong I was, it was the train that was ruining the date on that day.
But a valuable lesson was learned that day, and I still go by that lesson, if you can’t wait 30 minutes for something to change or enriched your life than you don’t deserve it, and isn’t worth crying over. I bought a sandwich and a magazine and went home. When I was at the door my mum saw that the day didn’t went as good as I had hoped it would be and just put her loving arms around me and said she loved me and that all would be fine. Nothing more nothing less.
These days, I do the same with my kids just putting my arms around them and tell them all is going to be ok eventhough that isn’t always the truth, love will always prevail!
This is me ready to meet Tom again, Well Tom if you are on Steemit, you we’re not worth it, hope after reading this you learned that sometimes waiting isn’t that bad!
About 2 years ago I’ve written about the ‘best’ time to submit a blogpost so you’ll receive worldwide exposure. I came up with the term 4 o'clocky and I thought this might be a great idea to make a blogpost every day at 4 o'clock local time with this title. Every day I’ll submit a blogpost about something that keeps me busy, a challange, a contest or something important enough to share so Lets blog on and See you every day here at 4 !
Thank you for stopping by, its highly appreciated, and please let me know your vision on steemit life in general.
Please remember, focus on being creative instead of being busy!

Tom definitely missed out on meeting and conquering such a beautiful woman, he forgot that a gentleman waits for a lady as long as it takes and even longer when we know that trains, planes have delays. That's the way life goes and better opportunities come along. Happiness always a friend @brittandjosie

Hello @marinmex thank you coming from a true gentleman that’s a compliment. I was young and I was in love thinking he was the one, now I know I was just a foolish teenager and I see the same with our daughter. The relationship wouldnt have been it because he was the first so this was the best way to not end up with the wrong one!
ThAnk you for the comment
I highly appreciate it
You got a good story here. I like the way you intervene, as a narrator outside the context of the story, to clarify some aspects of it that could generate suspicion of verisimilitude in the reader.
Well done, @brittandjosie!
That’s such a nice compliment. I enter these contests and sometimes it works out, mostly because I was in the story myself ahhaha but this contest has so many great entries I hope I will win 😉 I wish you a great weekend
Tom was the loser there!
I think Tom definitely messed up by not waiting! I like the story. You also offer good advice about not being hasty to rush off so quickly; you might miss the prize!
this post reminds me of a story by theodor storm in which a man promises a young woman to come back and life tragically continues to progress and the man is prevented from coming back by numerous tragedies. one day he comes back and the woman who had been waiting for him all her life has died shortly before.
