Splinterlands Untamed Challenge (Round 2)
The Untamed deck launched a couple of weeks ago on the Splinterlands game which introduced a whole new raft of game mechanics and also some new shiny cards for all of us to play with! As part of this celebration of new stuff for us to play with, @simplymike has set up a writing contest to feature our favourite Untamed Splinter with a chance to win a new and shiny Untamed card!
For this challenge, I will tag two other Steemians who are also Steem-monsters fans... so, I think that @travelgirl and @saffisara are avid players who might be interested (although, they may already have Untamed cards in plenty!?!?!?).
Prior to the Untamed update, one of my least used Splinters was the Dragon splinter... underpowered Summoner (due to the level that I had...) and also underpowered cards (due to the rarity of getting them in draws...) meant that I would field ANY other splinter before resorting to the Dragon Splinter...
However, I would still collect and level up the Dragon splinter cards in the hopes that one day, they might be useful...
When I was finally allowed to open my whopping huge purchase of 10 Untamed cards, most of the cards that I had were of pretty ordinary quality. In fact, I never received enough of any single card to even level it up to the 2nd level! So, all my Untamed cards are still a measly Level 1!
Thus, I've not really had a chance to road test any of the Splinter specific Untamed cards, and mostly, they haven't really changed my preferred line-up in any games... except maybe sometimes including the Fire Splinter's Serpentine Spy as a high risk glass cannon to try and hollow out a enemies middle!
One pretty awesome draw that I did make was the Legendary Dragon Jumper... my first instinct was to dump it on the market. I don't play Dragon, and the likelihood of this card leveling to anything beyond the first level was pretty damn slim. So, I set a pretty high price for it, in the hopes that someone would get 1st day FOMO and bite... but the market price dropped pretty quickly, and I was out of selling contention pretty fast.
So, I took it off the market... and one day, I had a Daily Quest that involved the Dragon Splinter! That was new in the Update... before Untamed, we only ever got quests that involved the regular Splinters and never the odd Dragon one. Fine, I thought that I would try it out...
Wow... if I thought that the Serpentine Spy was pretty cool... then the Dragon Jumper with Flight and Opportunity combined with higher survivability, speed AND attack power COMBINED with the +1 melee bonus from the Summoner! This made short work of the insides of the opposing formation. Sadly, it did also come with a pretty high Mana cost as well, which did limit it's usefulness to the high mana battles.
So, with the Untamed update... due to the enforced Dragon Daily Quest and the lucky legendary draw... I would have to say my favourite Splinter would be the Dragon Splinter... although, most favourite might be overstating it a bit... most improved from the absolute dump Splinter to a viable consideration is probably closer to the mark!

I've faced that Dragon Jumper a few times and its very problematic.
I've been trying to work out a good strategy to deal with Opportunity Cards.
I think Level 5+ Enchanted Defender is the solution. Thorns and lots of armour but low health. Just keep it out of the way of magic sneaks and snipes.
Ah yes... I started to see that counter working on me a few times now. On the other hand, it burns the 4 mana that could be used for something less defensive, a bit of a gamble!
I absolutely love that dragon Jumper. Best card of the pack, if you ask me.
Thanks a lot for joining, @bengy.

It's a great card... pity that it is tied to the Dragon Splinter though... it only starts to shine in the high Mana games!
True. Like many of the new cards....
