With the rise in population, globalization, industrialization, and scientific revolutions, our mother Earth’s resources are been slowly depleted. As the population’s essential needs grow, hence, the use of Earth's resources, leading also to the high generation of human waste.

All these actions lead to significant effects such as Global warming, which affects virtually everything around us, causing a lot more damage to us humans such as natural disasters. So under this week's topic, we will discuss the issues of Global warming, Get your seat.

Do you think that global warming is influencing the frequency with which natural phenomena are occurring?

Before we go into details of what Global warming can do, I hope you don't mind we know what global warming is all about. Would you? Good to know you don't.

Global Warming is said to be the rise or increase in Earth's average temperature. This rising temperature tends to cause a lot of issues for humans, who in turn cause the temperature to rise due to their actions to meet the demands of the increasing population.

According to studies, human actions such as Deforestation, Greenhouse emissions, Pollution, and Carbon emissions are the main causes of Global warming. All this comes from human needs such as housing, food, and the good life promised by science and technology. With the increasing population, all needing these amenities it keeps causing more damage to the earth.

Back to Global Warming influencing the frequency of natural disasters, yes I very much believe it is not just a factor but the root cause of this natural disaster, and the higher the temperature, the higher and more frequent its effects on Earth. The effect of global warming on Earth is extremely severe, as Global warming continues, many more harmful effects will happen.

Taking my country Nigeria, Bayelsa precisely, and the south south at large as a study case, when I was still a child, I knew not what flooding was all about, What we knew was the rising and falling of tides and water levels from certain times of the year to a certain time, usually the water level will raise by September, and reduce back to normal by late November however we got to know what flood was by the year 2012 as it destroyed properties and building.

Has Your Country Been Affected By Global Warming? Can You Give Us An Example Of How It Affects The Country And You

As earlier stated, Nigeria is deeply affected by global warming, with the increase in the Earth's average temperature, causing changes to our rain cycle, the humidity of the air, and wind patterns, different regions of Nigeria suffers different fate.

As I mentioned, the southern part which is closer to the waterline (the coastal areas) experiences massive flooding annually usually from September to early December which started in the year 2012, with 2012, 2018, and 2021 being tagged the biggest.

Whereas, the northern part of the country, mainly characterized by highlands and rocks suffers draught every year. The extreme of Global warming is well documented in Nigeria as it leads to loss of properties, life, farmlands, and biodiversity affecting both humans and animals (who don't even know what we "humans" did), no one is left out.

How Do Natural Phenomena Affect The Economy And Infrastructure Of Your Country? (According To Your Criteria)

Natural disasters not only affect lives but everything around us, from plants to our economy and infrastructure. Taking my home state Bayelsa for example, when we experience flooding, it not only causes damage to our environment, but also infrastructure such as houses, bridges, and roads collapsing or getting occupied by water.

Economically, flooding has done more damage to us. It destroys farmlands, farm produce, and livestock leading to no/little farm yield, a low supply of goods and income, and an increase in the cost of living, and goods.

With flood covering most of the roads, it causes transportation, leading to no high transportation cost, low or little delivery of services, and a lot more effects including loss of lives.

"If" It Were The End Of The World And They Choose You To Go To Another Planet, What Would You Take Or Who Would You Take, Explain Your Decision? (Only One Option)

Well, so far, Earth is said to be the only planet with the existence of life, so I don't see myself going to another to die the same death.

Earth has everything I need, I don't need to leave if the other planet had what I need, Why am I asked to bring this one thing? Let's come together, amend our ways, and help flourish our Mother Earth or go extinct with it.

I will draw the cotton here by inviting @yakspeace, drhira, @suboohi, @ninapenda, @ikwal and @ruthjoe

Thank You for your Time

NOTE: Always have a smile on your face, as you are never fully dressed without one.

Sort:
