Every life is very important and it should be cherished and respected. Not only human life but also that of lower animals who are under our custody. But is that the case today? I believe the answer is NO. On daily basis, people are being murdered due to their crimes in society. But who are we to blame? The person who commits the crime or the government that implements the death penalty? As for me, I blame he who commits the crime. In essence, I agree with death penalty for crimes like kidnapping, arm robbery, suicide bombing, etc. The reason I agree with the penalty is, it takes someone who is heartless to go into such crimes. And if they are allowed to continue living, they will end up wasting a lot of life in society. As such I believe for society to find peace, such people have to be eliminated. I am a Nigerian 🇳🇬, and our constitution does not permit death penalty for any kind of crime. The only punishment given to people who commit terrible crimes is LIFE IMPRISONMENT. Nevertheless, in the state where I reside ( Taraba state ), the governor of the state has given an order to military personnel to murder anyone found guilty of kidnapping. More to that, yesterday being 27 Feb 2023, Mr. President has addressed that whosoever tries to run away with ballot papers in the ongoing election should be killed without mercy. As earlier mentioned mention, no written law supports the death penalty in the Nigerian constitution. Nevertheless, an order to kill can be passed across in special cases in an attempt to prevent people from bridging the law. For instance, for years people have been running away with election ballot papers during the election period. And to prevent such actions, the President of the country gives the command to the military to bring down anyone who attempts to commit such a crime. On 26th Feb 2023, a man of 29 years was shot to death by armies for trying to run away with the election ballot box. The man is reported to have finished his NYSC program last month. And because of his crimes, the good future ahead of him has been wasted. Thank you for going through. I now invite @ophinebabe, @simonnwigwe and @ruthjoe to participate.
