BPL category families are the ones who earn less than Rs. 50 per day in household income.
However, The World bank defines the below poverty line income threshold to be $1.25 per day.
According to The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) the people get free ration of 5 kg of of Wheat or rice per week. They need not to pay for food. For this government of India spend 8100000 crores of Rs per annum.
According to right to education act Government provides free education to all between age group 6 to 14 years and also provide one free meal worth Rs. 5.4 and 8.1 for lower primary level and upper primary level.
According to Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) vulnerable families are entitled to free secondary and tertiary treatment in panel hospitals of India. There are free OPD clinic providing free treatment, pathology test and medicine.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) provide a lone of Rs. 150000 for eligible poor family to construct or repair of their house.
Government India provide free electric connection to poor rural people. State governments sometimes give subsidy of 25% on electricity bill to poor.
In addition to the above there are many social welfare state sponsored schemes for senior citizens, widows, ladies and girls.
In spite of above basic support these poor people's life are very struggling and gruesome.
As such there are no scope for entertainment or amusement in their life except few children who are given kits for popular sports by handful NGOs.
Currently, the government issues PPH (priority household) and NPHH (non priority household) cards under the NFSA. Government no more issues BPL. APL or AY cards anymore.
A government official claimed that only 5% are below poverty line in India.
Indian per capita income has gone up from Rs 86000 in 2014 to Rs 172000 now. It has just doubled.

Atleast there are digital penetration in metro cities, two tire and three tire towns. Most of the street vendors also use QR code for transactions. It is definitely better to have digital money because it makes all transactions inclusive and mobile with internet usage. Indian taxpayers' no. have doubled since 2017.
