Warm greetings to all steemians, it's another special day and another great opportunity to post in this awesome community @colombia-original, I also want to appreciate the admin and the team for bringing up this challenge. So in this write up, I will be discussing how I can take care of the planet and the environment around us to live a better life.

The planet earth is our home planet, this is our world as humans, this where we live, the earth has been confirmed by scientist as the only place that can give and sustain life. Everything we need as humans to survive is present on this planet, some of this include sun, moon, stars, air, water, plants trees, rivers, oceans, lakes, animals, soil, rain, snow, rocks etc. All these can be found in our immediate environments and they define our everyday living. Man depends on animals and plants to get food, that's where we get our daily nutrition from, not only that we also depend on the trees around us to breathe and make shelter. The relationship between man and his environment forms the ecosystem but unfortunately the activities of man in his environment has caused some havoc on the ecosystem and pushed it towards collapse. We will be looking at some of the things we can do to savage this situation so that we can all have a good life and have a better environment and planet for the generation yet unborn.
SMALL GARDEN AT THE BACK OF MY HOUSE
I strongly believe we can preserve our environment and the planet by combating some acts that could be harmful and detrimental to the ecosystem at large, also in this section, I will be highlighting some things we can do to restore the ecosystem back to normal and they include :
GROWING TREES (AFFORESTATION)
The importance of trees in our environment cannot be overemphasized, they are essential component of our environment, they provide food for man, not only that, the oxygen we breathe in comes from the trees around us. These trees helps to clean the air and combat climate change. It is essential we cultivate the act of planting trees to replace the fallen or cut ones so that we can save the planet.
REDUCE, RECYCLE AND REUSE
These three 'R's are also essential for us to conserve our natural resources and make our environment a better place to live. Most people are fond of throwing away any used product. It's not a good act, we need to cut down on what we throw away because most of this things can be recycled and re-used.
VOLUNTEER
It is sancrosant we also strive to volunteer for cleanups and environmental sanitations in our community. Let's join groups together with those who are working to make the environment a better place fit for living. This will also motivate others around us to volunteer and contribute to the development of the ecosystem.
SENSITIZATION
I think as learned people that we are, we should always try and educate or sensitize our community on the need to live a healthy life and maintain a clean environment so that we can save our planet. Through this orientation, they will also come to understand the value of our natural resources.
AVOID CHEMICAL SPILLAGE
Some chemicals can be very toxic to our environment, some of these chemicals when spilled causes environmental pollution and even some when they find their way into the rivers poison the fishes and other lifes present in the water. As a result of this, we should be careful with the use of chemicals around us to avoid been poisoned or harming the creatures around us.
The planet is our domain, we should all strive to make it a better place to live. Harmful acts such as unauthorized cutting down of trees, oil/chemical spillage, air and water pollution, endangering of wildlife, burning of fossil fuel etc can be detrimental to the ecosystem around us. We need to engage in the practices I discussed in this article so we can save the planet earth. Let's continue to put in more effort in ensuring this happens and the world will become a better place.
