I have only seen Cantiflas in one movie - Around the World in 80 Days (1956). He was one of the actors given top billing and was the subject of most of the action in the movie.
This bullfighting scene was written specifically around his talents. If you are a fan of Hollywood movies they had cameo roles for over fifty actors of the time most of them were mainstream and popular.

My only criticism of the movie was the casting of the role Aouda. Without wanting to be critical of Shirley Maclean, it annoys me that she was chosen when more exotic actresses of the time were not considered. I suppose it was an unfortunate consequence of Merle Oberon was too old, Claudia Cardinale was too you, and Elizabeth Taylor was too married to the producer.
It was a wonderful Cantinflas movie, friend @dwarrilow2002. However, I am not critical of the actors or actresses in the cast of any movie. I focus on the context and what it wants to convey. Also, I really appreciate the information. Keep investigating.
This is an age that actors and actresses (and artists in other areas) are critical of their audiences. There is a comic book artist who famously told people that if you don't like her comic book, don't buy it. She is now famous for a recent interview complaining that not only did people not buy her book, but the entire industry is shutting down because no one wants to buy the message the industry is promoting. No one is interested in gay, fat superheroes.
There was an actress who said she didn't want middle-aged white men to watch her movies. By magic, she got what she wanted.
One of the abilities of a good audience member is the ability to suspend belief. I can immerse myself in movies that most people cannot. Actors tend to play the same characters in every movie. Imagine if Cantiflas was replaced by Jerry Lewis?
I fully understand your point of view. In my opinion, each artist has his personal style. In addition, today, there is a lot of diversity, regardless of gender or race, because there are followers who support them.
