What does my post need to be upvoted?

Why should my post be upvoted? I can give you a few reasons for that. But to be frank, I personally have no reason to tell you about it, but my post lets you decide whether it deserves to be upvoted or not. In fact, it's all about how I present the points in a post, how well I explain them, or the quality of my post.

I had no intention of taking part in this contest because I thought it was not for newbies like me but for seasoned members that know all about voting, or should I say, have been searching for and reading good posts and also voting on them for a long time.

But when I read your comment on your contest post that I should write a post, I decided to write even though I know I am not qualified to express my views on such a complex issue.

I don't think my rank or the decoration of the post means a thing, but quality speaks for itself. So what I believe is that it's all about my post's quality and the way I have presented it is all that matters.

But what I feel during my short experience on this site is that we all write our posts with lots of expectations and hope that all our posts will be upvoted or selected in the day's list for booming vote.

To be frank, I am very picky about communities and contests. I don't write just for the sake of writing. I write when I feel confident that I have something to convey. I only participate in contests when I feel this way. I have no hesitation in making my intention clear on this point since earning money is not the only reason for me to take part in contests or write stories on this site, but I don't do so unless I feel an inner satisfaction in doing so.

I won't write a post unless I have something to tell my readers that I have something that will give them something to ponder. I am not going to write now and come up with excuses that I forgot to write this point or that point in my post, which deprived me of upvotes.

I would rather not write a post, but no excuses whatsoever. I leave it to the judges to decide whether my post deserves a vote or not. However, as far as I am concerned, I give prime importance to the quality of my post and the facts that make it unique. I want to write something out of the box. I am not a follower of any style, but I chose to write in my own style, vote or no vote.

Finally, I know each and every community has limited votes, and I am not the only author, so I can't expect a vote on each of my posts. I do my job of writing and posting it, then sit back and leave the rest to the judges. I try my best to look unique and include something new in each of my posts. I also try to present my posts in a way that looks pleasant to my readers so they come back for my next post.

I am trying my best to keep my readers interested, but as you know, for me, differences in timezone and language are two major barriers. However, I am not a person that gives up easily, so I will keep trying until I come good to your expectations. You know, I was selected as a moderator in a community recently, but I left that post after ten days because I had no idea about the posts that I was expected to moderate.

So what I feel is, quality is the only thing that can bring votes for you. As you said, it's about luck. Maybe yes, maybe not. Maybe by the time I submitted my post, you had already decided about the vote. So yes, luck is also a factor, but not necessarily. It's the quality that wins you a vote in the end.

You know, we have an adage in one of our epics which says:

"You have the right to work but not to the fruit of your work"—Lord Krishna in Gita

I believe in that. I will keep doing my job but never expect a vote. I know if I have done something worth a vote, it will definitely come. And then I have nothing to complain about because I have been getting enough votes on my posts. Yes, I am so happy that a newbie barely five months old on this website is getting enough support. No, I never said a word, and I have no right to say that I must get more votes. I am not a beggar, but a doer.

And yes, I have been experimenting in various communities by writing on different topics just to see my potential. I will keep doing so until I reach a conclusion and find my desired niche, and then I will stick to that and make it my own brand. I am sure this is not the time to expect more votes than I am already getting.
