INTRODUCTION

Greetings and happy new month to all members of this group from me, @destinedhanik. Today, I'll be talking about my sugar addiction, all thanks to @franyeligonzalez for this wonderful topic which will expose everything about our addiction to sugar, so stay with me while I take you through the journey.

Do you consider yourself a sugar addict? 👀🤔

First of all, a sugar addict is someone who can't stay without taking things that contains high level of sugar. I'm not a sugar addict because I can stay for long periods without sugar or without taking things that contains sugar but at other times, I consume snacks that contains sugar.

Have you ever tried quitting sugar? How did it go?

I have never tried quitting sugar but I have tried cutting down on my intake of sugary things and though it seemed as if it impossible, but it is achievable.

What emotions do you feel before consuming sugar?

I mostly consume sugar when I feel low energy. Sugar boosts energy so when I want to get revived or energized, I take something with high sugar.

I sometimes take garri with sugar to boost my energy

Has your sugar consumption increased in recent months?

No, my sugar intake hasn't increased in recent months because I haven't taken anything that will increase it, rather I have tried in taking less sugar.

How do you feel physically after consuming sugar?

Physically, I feel energized after consuming sugar especially of I had done a lot of work or if I had really been dehydrated or walked under the sun.

Do you suffer from headaches, fatigue and bloating frequently?

No, I don't suffer from headaches, fatigue and bloating.

What is your most common excuse for eating sweets?

My most common excuse for eating sweets is cravings and hunger and also weakness. When I crave for sugar, I eat sugary biscuits or bounce, when I feel tired and weak, I drink sodas and also take other sugary things for hunger.

Would you like to stop eating sugar completely? Why?

Yes, I would like to stop eating sugar completely, especially artificial sugar that comes from snacks like cakes, bunce, pizza, soda drinks, fruit juice, ice cream, etc. Stopping sugar completely would serve as a cure to many issues as sugar is one of the major causes of disease example heart disease, type 2 diabetes, weight gain, destroying teeth and gums, cancer, etc. It will also reduce risk of liver damage and too much sugar is a great threat to cardiovascular disease.

What strategies would you use to reduce or eliminate your consumption?

Though it is not an easy journey but it is achievable. I Will start by

• Limiting my intake of things like soda drinks, fruit drinks, candy, chocolates, sweetened bread, etc.

Soda drinks contains artificial sugar

• I will also go on a low sugar challenge from maybe few days to months. This will be achievable by cutting out all sources of added sugar for those days. I will then focus on consuming nutrient dense whole foods or natural sugar in foods like vegetables, ripe plantain, fruits, dairy products, etc.

Artificial sugar can be replaced with fruit like pawpaw

• I will cut back on sugary drinks and processed snacks and go for healthier options.

• For every cravings of sugar I have, I will replace it with non sugar. I will also try to manage my cravings.

• I will lessen my periods of eating out and cook more often at home.

• Instead of buying juice and drinks outside, I will Make my own juice from fruits at home.

I will also replace soda and juice with water.

CONCLUSION

Low or no sugar gives you a clearer and younger look while too much sugar leads to wrinkles. You can naturally reduce your sugar intake by exercising and eating more of fruits instead of taking snacks or foods with artificial sugar. People who abstain from sugar totally are not prone to diseases.
