Steemit Engagement Challenge Season5 Week 2: My Medical Experience

Hello amazing friends, It's a pleasure to write as a partaker in this engagement challenge contest of the season5week2. I am glad to be among the participant, I appreciate the steemit team for everything, I also appreciate the Colombia original community for being among the selected communities for this season and also for bringing an educating and interesting topic for steemians to share their experiences on. I am here to share mine and as you read down, I know you will find it interesting.

I will be writing on the above topic by answering the questions given by the community which is related to the topic for a better understanding.

Yes! I am very afraid of any medical instrument. Hospital is a place where I wish not to have anything to do with it. I am not just saying this, I am saying all these because I have had so many experiences while a child and also while an adult, not just to myself but I have seen people going through a lot in the hospital whenever I go for a visit.

There can never be an answer without a reasons and my point is that, since my childhood, I was having a fear of medical tools, especially syringes. The nature of the syringe itself is scaring and back then I was viewing the syringes as something harmful and not knowing that it is a help to my body. That fear I was having in my childhood has grown so much that it is still in me even at this age.

A medical specialist is a medical personnel that specializes in a specific area of the body treatment, it could be an eye surgeon, an orthopedic doctor, an ear surgeon, a dentist, and so many others.

I am afraid of all the medical specialists because they put efforts together to see that they give a patient the best but to me, it seems they are punishing such a patient so naturally, I am afraid of them because of how they struggle with a patient to see his or her survival but in a very genuine hard way, I'm always afraid of the process.

I was once a victim of routine teeth and that happened as a result of carelessness. I was taken to a dentist in a hospital, and after checking, the doctor said he will extract the teeth so, I was having fear anyway but the fear became much when I saw the tools the doctor was coming with, I became more afraid and lastly, one of my teeth was removed under pains and my experience was the reason I became so afraid of any specialists at all.

Yes! I had experienced medical trauma, not in my childhood but in my adulthood. I was suffering from an appendix for years and when I was hooked, my parents decided we should go for the surgery which we went to the hospital in the morning. The moment we entered the hospital after undergoing all the processes, the only thing I could remember was when I met the doctor and how I was vomiting immediately after an injection was given to me.

After some time, I noticed I was operated on and I felt like taking cool water but no way, I took warm water for one week. The experience was not funny anyways, but I scaled through and I am grateful.

The accident I experienced was when I was a kid, at age 12, My mother buys pepper from the Fulani people at a cheap price and she sells to have her gain. At that age, I knew my mother was doing it all for us to get something to cater to the need of the family but my stubbornness has taught me a lesson.

I have been helping my mother to sell pepper but on a faithful day, I never felt like going to sell because I needed to play. My mother begged me but I refused so, as a mother, she forced me to go for the selling and I left home angrily, even when she was trying to say "please watch the road" but I was misbehaving with a tray of pepper on my head and that was how I entered the road and a bike from nowhere hit me, I had bruises on my faces and my ankle was broken but thank God everything is normal and its a story today.
