Introduction

Hello great people of steemit and my beautiful friends of Colombia-original community it is a great pleasure to participate in this great contest. This is an opportunity for us to do free style which is ideal for most authors to showcase their writing skills .it is always a staying connected with great people like you people. I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to present this wonderful piece.

The Dark Night has Fallen

I got up early that morning of May 19 /2016 ,Princely worked to meet in school and asked me what are you people doing in school when the others have been not go to school . I asked him where and he said the schools at Ndu have been asked to shut down and we are still schooling here in Mbawrong “I hope you people won’t get into warned” I asked him what is the problem and he said teachers are on strike and they have there is no school until the government solve their problems.

The next Day at school we saw some writings on the wall warning students on the wall warning students to stay away from school. I was the first person to come to school that morning and I called the principal on phone he came with other teachers. I immediately presumed since princely was the person who brought the news perhaps he was the person who wrote on the wall. Immediately Princely was taken to the palace where he was interrogated and but he denied the allegations.
Well he was given some strokes of canes on his buttocks for perpetuating acts of vandalism.

It all started like a joke. It was a Wednesday and the next day was Thursday and we saw only 15 students in school . I made calls from Mbawrong and other teachers confirmed to me they were not in school and I was shocked. I told the principal we should manage and close the week and see how the next will look like.
We managed to close the school with the few students and the next week was even worst .They was no single student in school except for the teachers. I told the principal it was glaring that they are no schools. We locked the school and left for our various houses. I travelled to Bambili and realized it was the same scenario. Children were out of school and the streets were looking so gloomy.

The teachers had made a list of demands and the government was working hard to solve the problems. But in the course of trying to solve the issue another group of people from the English speaking regions rose up and started demanding better economic situation and also demanded a review of the constitution, where the form of state will be altered from a unitary state to a federal state. Protest went on for some weeks and the government reacted with force by using the military to crack down the protest. The government even said the form of the state is non negotiable. Many were arrested and locked up without trial.

The main issue was the fact that the English sections of the country who are the minority feel cheated in the running of the state affairs and they feel they are been marginalized. So they wanted a review of the constitution. The problems were now numerous but the government solved the teachers’ problem at about 80% rate. They teachers demanded for school resumptions after some months but the situation was too late. The dark night had fallen
!!!

The protesters had become separatist and had taken guns to fight the government … yes the dark night had fallen. No more schools, schools that manage to go are heavily guarded by the police. , Princely had dropped out of school and he is now a cargo driver in Douala .He wanted to be a doctor. I now live in another town with my family.

Most people are now internally displaced. Our girls are rapped, thousands of soldiers have been killed, and we now live in fear and agony. School is hardly effective. what does that mean for Princely????? 😭😭😭😭From 2016 till now we have been living in moment of torments
Indeed the dark night has fallen. But I can see patches of lights from many angles. A bright day will soon come

Conclusion

My dear people , that is our situation as we speak right now in Cameroon. Together we say no to violence.!!!

Thanks for reading.

Friend the situation in your country is very tragic, but have faith in God and work hard enough to contribute your grain of sand in your community. What they need is to be united and stand firm in the face of all adversity. From Venezuela, I send you the best wishes, take care of yourself.

Thanks my dear friend. In fact most leaders have never had the interest of people at heart that is why they do not really care. We pray for a better tomorrow even in Venezuela.

Thanks so much for your kind words ...

Talking about the situations in your country, well, I feel sorry for you and for most people who reside in some African countries because we are always not lucky to have good people in power. I got up early that morning of May 19 /2016 ,Princely worked to meet in school and asked me what are you people doing in school when the others have been not go to school

Chaaaaaiii I quite remember this day, we were all seated at home hoping that the match pass between the lawyers and teachers should go well in our favor but everything turn against us as the military brutally beat both the teachers and the lawyers. From that day, everything has changed because that action by the military has caused a serious war which we are all suffering from it now

Protest went on for some weeks and the government reacted with force by using the military to crack down the protest. The government even said the form of the state is non negotiable. Many were arrested and locked up without trial.

I really feel pity for Bbc Mancho that was a real victim of this protest till today because he is still lucked up in the prison because of the protest he protested at the city chemist Bamenda where he had to use but a coffin to protest which we called today the coffin revolution

I hope this our hero will be released some days

You just brought back sad 😢 memories and I really feel sorry for all the victims of this war who have lost their family members

It is so sad to read that it is the real situation in Cameroon. But yah, I suppose it is life and the sad side of it.
I salute you for writing about it. 🫡
Good luck for the contest

But yah, I suppose it is life and the sad side of it.

Hello dear @patjewell , you got it all. Live has got these two sides and we are on the other side now...

Thank for your kind words ...
