How we will live || poem
source
If this is how we will live
Throwing planks and punches
Tearing fellow Rep's fabrics
At readiness, a snap
Furniture allowances, contractor
Allowances rising high to the sky
If this is how we live
Obtaining orders
From backyards
By corroding the Bench
In bench marks with Greek gifts
Retiring those with
Guts to reveal
Cutting corners by
Flouting orders or
Reshuffling the order to bring orders
If this is how we live
Auctioning public
Spoils into private
Pockets from private parlors
Milking the land dry
Through inflated
Contracts, abandoned
Projects and ghost workers
But paying saint and angels
In public podium and papers
If this is how we will live
Building billion dollar
Projects and crashing same
Or pilling public funds
In foreign tills and damning same
Yet borrowing vessels not a few
While millions cry dry tears
If this is how we will
Live poles apart at heart
Razing ourselves and
Houses down before true provocation
And set up panels
That never produce
Convictions
Apart from prevarication
Apart from botched prosecution
If this is how we will live
Mixing things up
And mincing words
First things last
Last things first
For toddling ones
In ivory towers
Burying bodies
With gang rapes
In cult coteries
And playing god
At sage age
Also playing baby
And then we claim aloud -
"It's not in our character"
In whose character are we?
What character in us is ours?
Well written poem.
It passes a message, a broken piece in life, the unfilled void left open in our hearts.
