First and foremost, test the magic of the movie title I drew by flipping your device upside down. Cool right? That was the concept of the movie. Harry Bradbeer (the director) wanted to create a character who needed nobody to make her complete; a smart, fierce, adventurous and creative character.

Who better to play this role other than Millie Bobbie Brown from Stranger Things, the role that won her multilple nominations during the Emmy awards. She is an actress who is able to portray different emotions, very original and her personality is through the roof.

COMPLETE CAST

You would notice one person on the cast particularly stands out. And if that's not the case, it's safe to say you missed out on your dc comics movies. How can anyone forget Superman (Henry Cavill). Henry plays the role of Sherlock Holmes and he was just the right man for the role. I think the success of a movie also depends on yhe kind of A-listers you decide to use based on the role at hand. As such, a genius Henry Cavill (superman) wasn't bad at all.

Other familiar faces such as Burn Gorman, Helena Bonham and Louis Patridge were equally seen here. And oh, who could ever forget the ever beautiful, Susie Wokoma. She did a fine job in this movie like she did with "Chewing Gum". Now let's get into the nitty-gritties of the movie.

WHAT THE MOVIE IS ABOUT - SPOILER ALERT!!!

I have to admit, when I heard Sherlock Holmes was in the movie, I was disgusted about the idea of ruining such a classic movie with a new character. It wasn't until watching the movie that I realised that he wasn't a pivotal character and the movie was centered more on the life of one Enola Holmes.

This is about a girl born on the country side who has lived most of her life as a lonely girl. Even her name "Enola" was give to her because spelling it backwards says Alone. This, as I explained earlier has a much deeper meaning to it than just being alone. The only friend she ever had was her mother. Don't get me wrong she had a family. The notable of her two siblings was Sherlock Holmes, a very intelligent young man with smarts which have never been heard of. But the movie does not throw much spotlight on him which I loved. Let's keep the movies about Enola, shall we?

She decides to go out on the search for her mother. This was because she was made the ward of her irritating other sibling (Mycroft Holmes), who constantly made a mockery of her. But along the way, she meets this boy on the train who was hiding from his family for a reason. She didn't know then that this boy (Tewkesbury) was from royalty. He was also being persued and hunted by someone. This boy was an absolute idiot. The funniest line he said for me was "I'm not entire an idiot, you know".

They escape the wilderness after evading the killer and find themselves in the heart of London. This is where they went their separate paths. Being alone at countryside for so long she doesn't know the least thing about being a lady. She now has to learn to act like one if she has to fit into soceity in hopes of finding her mother.

The plan to find her mom is broken down into phases. These are the various steps she plans to take on the quest to find her mother. These steps include deciphering various clues her mother left behind. To do this she has to visit her past memories (like the original Sherlock Holmes) and remember some of the books her mother made her read as a child. Yeah, she has such an compelling memory.

She later discovers a hidden stash in London. She presumes it belonged to her mom as most of the stuff were familiar. Little did she know the place was housing the killer from the train. She manages to evade him and realises Tewkesbury was still in deep trouble.

Tewkesbury's fate was somehow intertwined with the future of the countr,y making him a pawn in the fight for wealth, power and all things politics.

Watch how the story unfolds as this lost soul progresses in an attempt to find the mother and save her friend using lessons she had learnt as a child.

TRAILER

I loved this trailer. It is the ideal standard I hope other trailer makers should emulate. It gives the summary of the whole movie and entice people to watch it.

MY RATINGS

As good as the movie was, it failed to explain a few necessary things such as why they wanted to kill Tewkesbury so badly. It also fails to give as a good reason why Enola's mom left and abandoned her. For that reason I give it a 7.5 ratings, but recommend this movie to all and sundry.
