Contest: my first and ever travel to another state
Hello steemians, happy new week and happy Tuesday.
Is my pleasure to join his contest. Though I have not really visited places but I had an opportunity to travelled to another state outside my birth state during my NYSC(National Youth service Corp). The experience I had was one I will never forget in a hurry 😃😄
I travelled to Osun state, that is a Yoruba land outside my own tribe which is Calabar, I didn't know their language, infact I did not even know my left from right, but on arrival with my mobile phone, I started downloading Yoruba language app both audio and written just to help me learn the language still it wasn't too friendly.
My one year stay in Osun as a teacher was lovely, adorable, impacting and inspiring, I wish to visit there again sometimes.
During my stay there, I had the opportunity of visiting just few places since the covid-19 pandemic started with total lockdown, so I had to stay in my phone all day which was always so boring.
In the state, they have schools and the one that actually drew my attention most was the OAU UNIVERSITY that is OBAFEMI UNIVERSITY. the school is big and rich with the culture of the Yoruba people. I was staying at Ife central, the heart of Yoruba land.
I taught in moremi high school and I never regretted doing it till tomorrow. My stay there was fun, I get to learn about their food such as: Amala, owelnu and most of the names they give to leaves which is quite different from my own culture: vegetable leaf is known as ukwu there.
After my service year was over, I stay for another month just because I was enjoying the place and I will love to revisit Osun state again. It is a journey I will never forget in a hurry.
One unique and striking think I learnt during my travel was state and capital how to recite it and know it off hand so as to know my location at all time when I am travelling.🤭😊😄
