Life is Just! || poem
I didn’t ask to be here, why do I have to suffer?
There is nothing to numb the pain
It is as invisible as tears in the rain
Too much work and nothing to gain
Struggle, but it’s all in vain
I didn’t ask to be here, why do I have to suffer?
I am indoors but it’s too hot
If I move out I will be arrested or shot
“We are in a war”, says the President
Hospitals as graves? – It is evident
I didn’t ask to be here, why do I have to suffer?
The scars have refused to heal
I try but there is nothing to feel
Life is a big paradox
Even if you take it as an orthodox
I didn’t ask to be here, why do I have to suffer?
Memories keep flooding back
And the questions are on a solo attack
Why are the good old days always gone?
And losses blot out past battles won
I didn’t ask to be here, why do I have to suffer?
See, things were not always like this
We had fun and would even kiss
But everyone is an enemy now
We can’t even muster the courage to say, ‘wow!’
I dare say, let’s break from the norm
And find a place to call home
For once, we can live without worry
Board and sail, under no hurry
Even if the pain is enormous
Love and hope are still upon us
We shall soon smile again
Strive and thrive under no strain
But until that time reaches, permit me to wonder
“I didn’t ask to be here, why do I have to suffer?
