My favorite character is Loretha "Cookie" Lyon acted by Taraji P Henson in a movie titled "EMPIRE." She was the ex wife of former drug lord turned hip-hop mogul,Luscious Lyon (Terrence Howard). She had three sons for her ex-husband (Andre Lyon,Jamal Lyon and Hakeem Lyon).
It is a joint production by Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television and syndicated by 20th Television. Although it is filmed in Chicago,the show set in New York. The series centers on the fictional hip-hop music and entertainment company "Empire Entertainment," and the drama among members of the founders' family as they fight for control of it. The genre of this drama is musical drama. It is a movie series with about six seasons. Its original release was made from January 7th,2015-April 21st,2020

I met her in 2015/2016 in season 1,"THE PILOT." The movie started off with Lucious Lyon looking for a successor to his "empire" meanwhile his ex-wife that was convicted to jail for a crime committed by her husband had already been released from prison.

Loretha "Cookie"Lyon (Cookie was what she was addressed with in the movie) was married to her ex-husband Lucious Lyon who was a former drug dealer turned hip-hip mogul. Cookie got arrested for a crime committed by her husband because at that time,Lucious had a breakthrough in his music business and Cookie didn't want such an opportunity to slip away from them. She served a 17 year tern with only one of her sons(Jamal) visiting her regularly. When Cookie got out of jail and found out that the company had grown,she demanded to own half of it which her ex-husband objected to. Cookie,realizing that Jamal was talented then requested to manage him and Lucious agreed to it.

WHY I CHOOSE THIS CHARACTER?

I choose this character because Cookie represents what women stands for;love,care,sacrifice,selflessness,strength,courage. Cookie can be said to be a total bad ass,very complicated and complex. Complicated and complex because the moment you think you're beginning to understand her,she brings up another character of hers. One could also tag her to be a superhero because of the sacrifice she gave her family,and yes,not all superheroes wear capes. It could be said that the Empire Entertainment was built on the sacrifices and efforts of not just Lucious but Cookie's as well. She speaks the truth not minding who gets hurt in the process. Also,she is chic and a fashionista to the core.
The admirable qualities of my favorite character listed above are my reasons for choosing her. Some of her quotes were: "the streets aren't made to everybody. That's why they made sidewalks;" "don't take advantage of my kindness because I can be ruthless as well;" "don't stop when you're tired,stop when you're done," to mention but a few.
