The film directed by Mick Jackson and based on books authored by Temple Grandin, is about the struggle of Grandin and the way she perceives reality due to the autism condition diagnosed her childhood. Her mother, Eustaquia Grandin has to deal with the fact of having a neuroatypical child decades before Autism and Asperger Syndrome was recognized as a mental condition that requires special education and medical treatment.
For being different from any other child she has ever met, Mrs Grandin has to find the best method for raising her daughter to be as independent as her condition allows it. The autistic isolation, called the invisible fortress, makes the individual be physically close to everybody but mentally, it is miles away. In case of being disturbed, it may display in a strange and overeactive manner how bothering the interruption is.

To help her to speak up to do request for anything she needs, to interact as normal as she can, Mrs Grandin makes her get out the comfortable zone her daughter refuses to leave. Through the whole film, the viewer sees her fear and hesitation of making a mistake that may cost her daughter´s welfare and possibly, an involution to the previous stage is so hard to take her out from.
When temple Grandin finds a profession to dedicate her efforts, she starts to interact with everybody and abandons isolation.
