Daily Dairy by @gabikay: Wednesday, 1st September, 2021
Hi friends, I want to tell you how my day went today.
I woke up at about 7 a.m, I then said my morning prayers and my day kicked off.
I had to go take my bath, brush my teeth and prepare for a class which was scheduled to hold by 9 a.m. I actually didn't have time for breakfast because I was kind of in a hurry and because I just arrived school yesterday and so I haven't unpacked completely. Afterwards, I trecked down to the lecture venue.
At SWEP Class
The lecture which I was headed to was supposed to be a practical class but we just had to go through the theoritical part
first anyways.
You might wonder what I meant by SWEP. That's just an accronym for "Students Work Experience Program". It's a practical session which every engineering student in their 2nd and 3rd year in Nigeria Universities must participate in to be able to farmiliarize them selves with their area of study. I got to class about few minutes past 9 a.m.
The lecture kicked off soon. We were first reminded of what we had learnt in the previous class ( I actually wasn't part of the previous class but I had already read up). Then the lecturer still continued with the remaining part of the previous lecture. Afterwards, he introduced another topic, which was technically the last part of the sub division of my department, Electronics. Oh! and I never told you my department. Well, I am a student of the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU).
So the 2 parts of the sub division are Power and Electronics. We started electronics today to be concluded by tomorrow being thursday.
We learnt quite some interesting and new things today. After class, I couldn't help but take some pictures of the marker board to serve as a reminder.
I also had to take some pictures with my friends.
Before we were allowed to leave, the students attendance was checked properly to ensure that no one student who was absent had his name on the attendance sheet (attendance matters to lectures very much in Nigerian schools such that they even award marks for it.). The class dismissed at about 13 minuites past 2 p.m.
After SWEP class
I headed for the hostel where I reside for now but first, I had to see off a friend at the school gate. So I remembered at the school gate that I needed some things and so I decided to purchase them before retiring to the hostel. I purchased a charging cord for my small Nokia java phone. I also bought a card reader and a soldering iron. I was so pleased that I now have my very own soldering iron.
220Volts~60Watts soldering iron.
When I got back to the hostel, I had to prepare dinner a little early so that I didn't eat very late at night. I prepared jellof rice. I believe I am a good cook but this one didn't taste very good if I must be honest. It's my food anyways, so I had to eat it.
After dinner, I used my phone to compose my daily diary and then sleep came calling. I couldn't refuse and so I locked my cupboard and then slept off on my bed.
Thank you for reading through my diary today.and a Happy New Month To You
Thanks. I am pleased to know someone far from Africa who is studying Electronics Engineering. I hope we can relate more
Wonderful day spent.
Life in school isn't easy especially in a Nigerian schools 😫. I totally relate bro.
