Uglydolls take place where: Members of the Old Free Tribes get into trouble because they are different, grapple with their desire to be liked, and ultimately discover that you don't have to be perfect to be amazing because who you really are is the most important thing.

Depending on your level of knowledge of modern baby games, you may or may not be aware of the ugly. The name says it all, because plush games are not designed to look classically pretty, but rather to look good and ugly. Not sure how ugly any of the Uglydolls are really, but like some of the game brands that came out before, they have now made the leap onto the big screen, complete with their pop soundtracks.

Uglyville is a city that is inhabited Slightly deformed dolls. Some are missing eyes while others are distorted in another way. Our lead doll is Moxy (Kelly Clarkson), a doll with boundless energy and optimism, who is basically a red bubble with some kind of growth sticking out of her head. Her dream is to leave Uglyville to the "big world", a cool place where kids love dolls, a place other dolls have told her, really doesn't exist.

However, her search for the big world led her with her friends (voiced especially by Pitbull and Wanda Sykes) into Perfectville. There they meet Blu (Nick Jonas) as the head of a group of near-identical human dolls who are perfectly judged before they are allowed to cross a portal to the big world. While we are immediately ostracized by the ugly tribes due to their prominence, they decide to stay in order to try their luck in being loved by human children.

Certainly, at this point, the basic premise of mindful children's games that exist in a world humans never see should sound very familiar. Uglydolls are a little bit of Toy Story and a bit of The LEGO Movie, mixed with some clearly defined, borrowed elements. There is nothing inherently wrong with this, but for sure, Uglydolls are not a game story or a LEGO movie.

Ultimately, the Uglydolls It really is more than just a pop music delivery device. As a sponsor that includes actors like Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Pitbull and Janelle Mooney, it might not be too surprising.

If I were to wear a movie critic's hat and give Uglydolls a serious breakdown, it must be said that the movie is completely unoriginal. I have seen this movie before. A group of outcasts fights a monolithic perfection, and in the end everyone realizes, including "different" people, that it is flaws that make people unique and special. The story is simple and you will likely be able to put together all the major intrigue from start to finish once things roll.

The subtleties of predicted plot cannot be overlooked, but when the expected moments occur, they are not handled well. A wallpaper is set up between Lou and other characters, the reward comes the way you'd expect it, but when it's done, it's rushed and not given emotional weight, which makes her feel pointless.

Almost none of the characters contain parentheses. One of the "perfect" dolls, Gandhi Munayz Mendy is probably the closest, but like any secondary character, she doesn't have enough time to develop, so any change that takes place is at best superficial. Instead, the letters are drawn with the widest strokes and give a basic character trait (nervous, loud, medium trait) rather than the actual character.

However, Uglydolls It is a children's movie and should be judged as such. The movie is unpredictable if you've never seen this story before. But it makes them easy to understand and follow. The message of the film may be clear to some, but it is neither important nor clear. Kids should fully learn that there is nothing wrong with being different, and if Uglydolls are the gesture that teaches them this, then so be it.

Uglydolls are truly a "kids movie" because while kids will likely have fun with it. The broad, layered story, humor, and story that will appeal to all ages that we have come to expect from the best animated films are missing here. But if the worst problem with Uglydolls is that mom and dad can eat popcorn for 90 minutes and then leave with a smiling baby, then that's not the worst possible outcome.
