Raised by Wolves: Episode 1 Review
Today i decided to do something different. I am currently watching Raised by Wolves a 2020 Sci-Fi series by HBA Max. In total it has 10 episodes and also there will be a season 2 but we don't know when exactly. So regarding the different thing i was saying. I have watched only 2 episodes of the show so far even though i could watch all of them in 1-2 days.
While i was finishing the second episode i decided to write a review for every single episode. This will be totally different than the usual reviews that are after i watch the entire movie or series. Also, this time there will be SPOILERS something i don't do on my other kind of reviews.
Raised By Wolves Episode 1
For some reason, Earth is crumbling and the last remaining hope is Keppler-22b. There a rocket touches the ground with 2 androids, named Father and Mother and a couple of infants. Some of them died and also one was saved by Mother. In total 6 children are alive and Mother with Father are trying to create a home and live with them.
As time flies, we get to see the infants grow into little children. Father finds a giant skeleton nearby so now both "parents" are more careful and at the same time afraid of the unknown. Things are getting more and more complicated as one of the children (Tally) goes missing and after 4 years all children but one (Campion) are dead due to diseases.
Mother and father keep trying to keep Campion safe and also are trying to teach him about being an atheist. Due to the fact that Campion is basically the only human alive, Father and Mother have a disagreement. Father wants to make contact with a ship named the Arc of the Mithraic that's orbiting the planet because he thinks it's the only hope for the child.
Mother strongly disagrees because she believes that she will keep the child safe and at the same time she doesn't want to give it to people that believe in gods/god. Also, Mother is malfunctioning a bit and that makes Father want more to give the signal to arc and "save the boy". When Mother learns about his plan she literally rips his heart off and leaves him.
Some men of the Arc manage to come to the planet with their leader being Lucas (Travis Fimmel) and invite themselves to dinner. Basically, everyone understands the plans of the other side. Lucas and his team want the boy in order to save him from the android and Mother want to get rid of them and protect the boy.
In the morning there is a fight with Mother basically killing all of them but Lucas and to make matters worse she visits the Arc and basically kills everyone out there as well, while she steals all the children and takes them back home, and that's how episode 1 closes!
A Few Extra words About The Episode
While i was watching this i had mixed feelings as i didn't know what exactly the show is about. Is it about aliens and stuff? Is it about Survival? Is it about Faith vs Atheism? Or a little bit of everything? All in all it was a quite decent episode with a lot of bloody scenes that i didn't expect!
