My Favorite Film Genre
Today i stumbled upon a contest from @raquelsiso1 in cooperation with @writingnreviews, @belenguerra and @fenditwhich which has a very awesome topic if you ask me. We have to write about our favorite movie genre and a little more info about that. In order to take part in the contest read the guidelines here.
Let's now dig in and see what my favorite genre is which let me tell you was a very difficult question i had to answer.
To begin with, i watch a lot of movies, shows and anime. When i say a lot i mean a lot, more than the average person watches for sure. Each i will watch at least one episode of something but most days i watch 1-2 episodes of a series and maybe 1-2 episodes of an anime so you can imagine. There are also many times that i have watched 12 episodes of a show in a day.
Anyway, i have many genres that i am particularly fond of like comedies, martial arts, mystery, historical, science fiction, gangster, crime and many more. It would have been easier to answer what i don't like which is romance and thrillers because i actually consider romances extremely boring and i also don't get scared in thrillers which supposed to be the point :P
So, i squeezed my head a bit in order to find the answer i seek and i realized that i really like Fantasy movies and series. So Fantasy is my favorite film genre. Under the Fantasy umbrella, there are tons of awesome movies like for example Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
If i had to choose a film that best represents that genre and i really love, then i choose Lord of the Rings. I think that film really opened the way for all the other fantasy films and the genre in general. After its success, we saw not only tons of fantasy films but also many series as well. It was simply a masterpiece and to be completely correct it is considered a High Fantasy.
A High Fantasy is a genre in which Mythical stories with highly developed characters and storylines take place. Now the reason i really like that genre is that it lets our fantasy run wild. Not only all your heroes come to life that you may have read in a book but you are also a step closer to that amazing fantasy universe.
In a sense, we return years back when we were children and all of these fantasy elements were part of us. We didn't actually know what was real and what wasn't and that made our life more "fantastic" in an essence. Thus, by watching those movies we all travel back in time and for a couple of hours the kid in us wakes up.
it's also amazing that literally anything we got in mind can be turned "into reality" through the films something that makes us wonder about the limits of our brains. In other words out fantasy is limitless and that can be shown through the books and movies/series in that genre!
Hello! On the one hand I must say that your post is very well explained, I also like this genre a lot although I go with the darker movies like those of Tim Burton.
On the other hand, it's true what you say that fantasy is like a return to the past when we were kids, I like it because it's like an escape from reality and you can exploit your imagination, haha.
By the way, I also watch a lot of series, anime and movies, now I watch Neon Genesis Evangelion and I try to watch three chapters a day.
