"The Exorcist" sequel will be "like the 2018 Halloween reboot".-

A pleasure to be back with another edition my dear friends!!!

After revitalizing the Halloween franchise, Jason Blum and director David Gordon Green are making a sequel to "The Exorcist" they hope will "shock all the skeptics".

Blumhouse is working, along with director David Gordon Green for the sequel to the horror hit we were introduced to many years ago.

Now, Den of Geekhad the opportunity to chat with Jason Blum about the sequel to the horror genre hit 'The Exorcist', and from what we understand, it's quite likely that the film will resemble the format of the 'Halloween' reboot. Both Blum and Green know what it's like to revisit a past production for a present generation, as together they brought the 2018 reboot of 'Halloween' to life.

Fans of 'The Exorcist' saga will surely recognize that the production has four spin-off stories, but not necessarily successful ones. And, although it is unknown if Green and Blum will discard the work previously done, it is expected that this new film will hit the nail on the fan's head. Hence his intentions to repeat what he achieved with 'Halloween', a story that was also paralyzed for a while and now came back stronger than ever.

It will be like the sequel to David's 'Halloween'. I think it's going to pleasantly surprise all the skeptics. We had a lot of skeptics about 'Halloween' and David turned them around, and I think he's going to change that with 'The Exorcist'.

For his part, Blum also stated that he is excited to make these types of films, which, while some consider overwhelming because of the fact of creating a "new sequel," he sees it as an important challenge.

Remember, most of the audience that comes to this, 95 percent of the audience that, if we do our job right, will come to see this film, will not have seen the first Exorcist or even heard of it.

While Blum does not confirm where he got such a percentage from, I suspect he is referring to the fact that most movie-goers, and streaming consumers, belong to generations that, unless they are movie fans, are not familiar with the original film. So they will take advantage of the "lack of knowledge" to surprise.

I want to make a movie that works for both [audiences]. I want to make a movie for people who know and love the first Exorcist and are furious that we're doing this, but somehow they drag themselves to the theater. I want them to walk out happy. And I want to make a movie that people who have never heard of 'The Exorcist' really enjoy.
