Date : 2020 is a Sunday in January.
A holiday for me and my family. We thought we were going to visit a beautiful place that holiday. So my family and I set off in our family vehicle to visit the Mirijjawila Dry Zone Botanical Garden, 48km from our house.

Location : Mirijjawila Dry Zone Botanical Gardens is located on the main road Colombo - Kataragama, about 6km from Hambantota. It lies between Mattala International Airport to the left of if & the Hambantota Bay to the right of it.

There are two entrances and we went through Mirijjawila and reached the entrance which had good parking facilities. The ticket counter was on the left as we entered. We bought six adult tickets.

There a guide came to us and explained about the buggy service. For around Rs.2000-3000 for 4 or 5 people (The amount varies according to the number of people), we could book an electric buggy cart, but because of my desire we decided to go for a walk and see the wonder. It was about an hour to get there by car, but it took a few hours to walk and finish. A buggy cart is best for people with disabilities. That too is its specialty.

The park is truly a beautiful and quiet environment. This is a great place to visit in Sri Lanka. The specialty is that it is a botanical garden located in the same dry zone created by the local peoples using local technologies &experience. This is the one & only dry zone botanical garden in Sri Lanka.

Mirijjawila Dry Zone Botanical Garden is the newest of the five botanical gardens in sri lanka & it's created in end of the 2013. Garden spreads more than 300 acres & only botanical garden in dry zone area. Also this place is very well maintained & the guides are very knowledgeable.

We saw many beautiful dry zone flowers and plants with lots of very rare medicinal plants. We took a lot of photos of them. Indigenous varieties were found in the dry zone itself. Of course those of school age as well as those who study arid zone plants should come and visit here to get a lot of knowledge. Even then school children came with their parents to watch them. We walked for about an hour and saw many plants and flowers and we did not feel tired while walking around looking at them.

We also saw the largest willow plant road in South Asia. It was a beautiful sight. We walked a long way to the end of it.

The variety of cactus lodge and orchid area is a must visit. We were able to see different types of cactus. Although I had heard of cactus and seen it in the photo, it was really beautiful that day. Wooww!!!

Others that impressed me were the Tamarind Tree Track, the Palm Tree Track and the Willow Track. There are several tracks with one type of tree on either side. As we walked, many people passed us in buggy carts. The bench was beautifully set up for us to relax.

Now we walk for about two hours. It was very hot in the afternoon. We are thirsty for water. A water faucet was designed as a nice tortoise to relieve fatigue and drink water. We have plenty of space to have breakfast and lunch as we please. There were several shops to get things like cold food and ice cream.

Artificially maintained wet zone gardens are beautiful and also great for photography. We saw several lakes in the same area. Among them we walked around "Malithan Gas Wewa", "Kohomba Gas Wewa". By then we realized that this was not a place to walk and finish today.

Also, the sculptures were designed to make us laugh. A monkey, a tortoise, a rabbit, ... etc.

An elephant made of beautiful trees and maintained, and many other creations caught our eye.

In addition, we were able to see many other amazing designs and maintenance. Although there was a lack of maintenance in those days, most of the repairs have been done by now.

Somehow we went 4 hours but could not see everything. Somehow at the suggestion of the elders we thought of coming one day watch again this place with the thought.

We saw many aesthetic locations and maintenance there, including drugs we had never seen before. It is amazing to see such a beautiful place in Hambantota. This is a place you must visit with your family.

What a beauty, one of the things I like most about steemit is this possibility to see and interact with different cultures. I loved the largest willow plant road in South Asia.
