"Fat Lip" is a song by Canadian punk band Sum 41. It is the lead single from their debut album "All killer no filler" which has released in 2001. This song reached the top of "Billboard modern rock" and 66th of "Billboard hot 100" and has sold 400k copies in Britain and certified as gold. It is written by Deryck Whibley the frontman of the band, Stevo Jocz, Dave Brownsound and Greig Nori and produced by Jerry Finn who was behind the famous punk acts like Blink 182 and Green Day.

Style of this song towards more to pop rather than pure punk or punk rock. It also uses elements of hip hop like rapping with strong rhyming. Lyrics are about young people and teenagers who live in suburbs and how they causing trouble and reject adulthood and society norms. It is some kind of rebellion that shouts: "I don't want to live like everyone else, I want to do whatever I feel to do". This song is a fast-paced (195 bpm) upbeat song and it is full of energy and has written in key of E major. Seems band members were heavily influenced by metal music and bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. It is wonderful to see how they were influenced by Rap music too and they have successfully merge these styles together.
Personally feel rejuvenated everytime I hear this song.
