History must be known in order to understand current social conflicts

Hello friends and followers of my blog, I hope you are all well.

In this opportunity I want to share a short reflection but with a deep analysis, which I hope will call your attention to think about the importance of being able to know the history to be able to better interpret the events that are taking place in full development in our world today.

For no one is a secret the fear of a war between great powers, the consequences that this would bring are catastrophic, from the economic, social and emotional point of view of the people who are involved in possible conflict.

We are currently seeing in the news a possible conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but have you ever wondered:

What are the reasons for the conflict between these two nations?

The answer to this question lies in part in that we go back to the past and investigate a little history, Ukrainians and Russians apparently share a common heritage, ie are descendants of an ethnic group called Tatars, of course we can not limit ourselves only to that lineage, as later would come in Europe a series of invasions such as the Mongol Empire, however for years with are quite recent Ukraine manages to be an independent country of Russia.

The independence of Ukraine not only from Russia but also from the USSR brought a lot of ethnic and cultural conflicts, since a large percentage of the Ukrainian population has a Russian identity, however there is also a considerable percentage of the Ukrainian population that is more attached to European values and culture.

All this historical background gives us to understand the reasons for the conflict, however there are other factors that also have their historical roots, such is the case of the annexation of the Crimean peninsula back to Russia, since it was a long time belonging to Ukraine.

Is it only historical factors that incite a conflict between Ukraine and Russia?

It seems that it is not only historical and cultural facts that push Russia to a possible invasion of Ukraine, there are also geopolitical and economic factors, since Europe depends on Russian gas to meet its energy demands, which are very strong in winter time as it is at present.

However, we cannot leave aside that Russia also depends on having someone to buy its gas, all this leads us to think that there is a cocktail of possible causes of this crisis, since perhaps one of Russia's fears is that NATO may install ballistic missiles on the border between Russia and Ukraine.

As conclusion I close this small analysis loaded with personal opinions that can become educational, informative and of personal character, that being influencing diverse reasons of this possible conflict I believe that to understand part of the conflict it is necessary to investigate something of history and geography, since besides being Ukraine and Russia Turkic towns they also share a Slavic roots between their towns.

However, I do not believe that everything is just a historical and cultural reason, there are also economic and geopolitical interests, since Ukraine is geographically trapped between the European Union and Russia, and although the latter is European in a considerable percentage, it has always left its anti-European culture, where we must also take into account that much of the Russian territory is located in the Asian Siberia.
