Midsommar is a film released in 2019 and directed by Ari Aster, Aster is already recognized by making movies like Hereditary which has a good amount of fans saying it´s one of the best horror films ever, I know it might sound weird because of the promotional posters but Midsommar is actually a horror story like Hereditary but as for me Midsommar is my favorite film from Aster due to the photography of the films, planes that look fantastic I must say, because of the narrative too and the way is told, I like how Midsommar is actually a horror story that happens on day and not at night, an experience that could be a bit contradictory.

Midommar tells us the story on Dani and Crhistian both acted by Florence and Jack, a couple with some problems in their life since Dani is a woman with important depression and anxiety issues and Christian is kinda tired of her because of her personal problems, all of this explodes when Dani´s sister kills herself which makes Dani´s depression even worse so Christian decides that Dani should go to a trip with him and his friends to a certain place, sadly, they don´t know this place would be their tomb, or likely, a danger place to take vacations.

So, Aster said that Midsommar was a movie which turned out like a catharsis to him since he made this film in order to represent toxic relationships since he has been through toxic relationships in the past, It's a more enjoyable movie if you've been through something like this in the past and you can really put yourself in Dani's shoes. Midsommar is a considerably slow film and whose horror is more human, that is, a more psychological terror, you will not see something like a monster or entity stalking everyone, the danger of this film comes from the human being.

Midsommar is a film that touches a lot on the subject of sects and the danger that it can cause to many other people who are not part of those worlds, basically as an obsession can cause terrible things and also the manipulation that these sects induce in other people to include them. in this film there is a very interesting dilemma, to what extent is it okay to accept the beliefs of others, is it okay to respect them even when harm to third parties is included?

I feel that Ari Aster has a good technique for directing films, he has a good handling of photography as I said before, I have also emphasized that he knows how to highlight landscapes in the shots of his films, I would like to say that this film is a good analogy to toxic relationships, a good movie that knows how to get its message across but can feel a bit slow if you're not used to it, even if you don´t like this film very much, you´ll have to admit it looks awesome.
