“SEC S5W5: My Corner: Fuel scarcity in Ilorin Kwara State.

Greetings dear steemians, I'm so happy to be here sharing this hot news with you all through the steemit engagement challenge contest “My Corner.”

On the 9th of November 2022 here in my city we have been experiencing the issue of fuel which has affected numerous citizens of the state, the issue started on the 8th of November 2022 but as of yesterday, it had become worst. Most of the fuel stations were locked because they couldn't afford to buy another fuel, for that reason all the bike men, car owners, and Keke drivers queued up at one of the fuel stations located at Sango road Ilorin. And the price of the fuel has increased from 180 naira per Liter to 300naira per Liter.

This has made taxi drivers not work at all as such the road was very scanty the few Keke and taxis we see on the road people are rushing just to get one in other to go to work or their business centers. The situation is not pleasant for the people at all and as we speak each drop has changed from 50 nairas to 100 naira with Keke, and the bike is 200 naira.

The price of goods has also increased in the market due to fuel scarcity, the traders are complaining that the goods brought for them last week were expensive so for that reason they also increased the price of goods. The rice we usually buy at the rate of 200 nairas is now 2500 naira. Everything has increased in price.

The scarcity of fuel has left so many people trekking due to the high value in price as they tend not to be able to pay for some transportation, at the fuel station some people had to leave their vehicle to go home and do other things before returning to continue queuing on line for their turn to come and that has been the issue ever since the fuel price rosed up.

Reading through the headlines this morning I found out that the reason behind the fuel scarcity in my State is due to the leadership crisis in one of the local governments in Oyo state called Oke-Ogun, Saki. The crisis has stopped petrol tankers from supplying fuel to the Ilorin metropolis since Monday.

And according to the reports a tanker driver was seen by the people diverting fuel from ilorin to Oke-Ogun , saki during the crisis. So that was the reason why the Lagos union branch stopped fuel delivery to Ilorin. The government is still working on the issue but we haven't received any news yet once the case has been resolved I will keep you updated through the channel.
