Introduction

Happy Sunday 🛐 steemians. Is a good thing that I have the opportunity to finally to create publications like this in steemit. This is a very nice initiative I have decided to begin this week in hotnews community and in other communities as well and I hope students learning chemistry for the first time as well as steemians who have forgotten few things about chemistry will also benefit from this initiative. Today I will be starting with introduction to chemistry.

Meaning of Chemistry

Alot of us have heard about chemistry so many times and we have been curious about it. I will give a brief definition of chemistry now and your doubts will be solved. Chemistry is defined as the science that studies the composition and structure of matter. It is also consigned with the forces that holds the structure. Chemistry is known to be almost all about matter. Matter is known as anything that occupies space and has mass and weight. We steemians are all matters.

Chemistry in our lives

We make use of chemistry in our everyday life activities and am sure most of us are not really aware of this and I will briefly list out the things that are involved in chemistry.

• Manufacturing of detergents.
• Making of palm wine.
• Manufacturing of drugs.
• Burning of firewoods.
• During of our clothes.
• Rusting of leaves.
• Rusting of nails.
• Melting of ice and so many others.

Uses of Chemistry

Aside the aspect of the ways we make use of chemistry in our everyday life, there are also unique uses of chemistry which I talked about below👇

Clothing: Alot of textiles are made from intensive chemical processes. These textiles are known to produce different types of clothings for man.

Medicine: Drugs are strictly produced from chemicals and this makes drugs very available all over the world because I have never heard about scarcity of chemicals.

Housing: Chemical processes are used in the manufacturing of roofing materials to meet the needs of housing. We have different vital housing materials like cement, wood, steel and tiles.

Transportation: Modern transportation has to do with fuel to power the different engines of different vehicles or ships and planes.

Military: Chemicals are used in the manufacturing of military weapons that are used for fighting war and other purposes. We also have so many other uses of chemistry but these are the important ones I wish to talk about today.

Career opportunities in chemistry

There are so many job opportunities or professions under the field of chemistry and I will love to list some of them out for you guys. They are;
