Importance of Pets in our Lives

The pets are actually those animals that are held in homes to take care of them and are growing properly. These domestic animals behave totally differently from the other wild animals and the best point to be noticed here is that these animals are involved so much in the lives of human beings that they become a necessary part of their lives. No doubt, pets are those living things that learn a lot from the lives of the humans around them, as well as, teach many things to their hosts.

Basically, I am much interested in growing pets. But unfortunately, I do not have enough time to grow them are feed them properly. I am busy so much in my daily routines that I found no time to do so. And I think this is the most exciting desire in me that I could find proper time to grow some pets and take care of them in a good manner. However, there are some species of parrots that are held in our house as pets. Actually, my little brother is so much interested in pets so he always keeps on finding out some precious and great pets.

Recently, I bought a parrot that I have given to my little brother to take care of it and held it like his own ones. He surely accepted it and held it in a separate cage that is enough for the parrot to perform his daily activities within the cage. The name of this parrot is so cute named "Ozzy". Its name is fixed by me when I bought it from the market, a few months ago for 12000 Pakistani Rupees. Below is the picture of the parrot that is actually my love.

When we talk about the breed of this parrot, its breed is Little Blue Golden Wavy Parrot. It is the most successful species of the African Parrots and they are little birds with spotted skin. These lovely living things are usually found in the middle east of the African subcontinent.

There are blue and golden colored waves of wings and these little wings help them to enhance their beauty, as well as, help them to make their high flights in the high sky. They sometimes look like the "Love Birds" that are very small in size and always remain with each other in the form of couples. Also, these parts are similar to the African species Budgerigar parrots that are one and only in their beauty.

This species of the little wavy parrots lay eggs 4 to 5 times a year and their upcoming generations are more beautiful and cute compared to them. Due to this property, these parrots are also known as the 'Beauty-Spreading Specie of Parrots'. After laying eggs, they protect their eggs from external stress for 20-21 days, and after this period their eggs hatch and the baby parrots come out of the egg.

This species of parrots are very friendly to the hosts, as well as, with each other. They are really cleanliness lovers and this property really impresses me a lot that they do not waste their food and for their wastage disposal, they are very sensitive and come out of the feeding spot. Also, their voices are super cool that the listeners become so impressed that their minds are attracted to the voices of these birds.

As I have explained earlier that I do not have much time to put a strict eye on my parrot but my little brother takes special care of the parrot. I often time look after the parrot whenever I have free time to do so. While the other times, I used to look at the activities of the parrots and my brother providing it all the basic necessities that are required by it in the proper manner. The below pictures shows some activities of my parrot and also, the food that is given to them.

The Pearl Millet (Favourite Seeds of Parrots)

In the above pictures, you can see my parrot is feeding. Actually most of the time, I used to visit the cage of the parrots that are arranged on the lawn of our house, most of the time, I am able to see these parrots feeding with various seeds and different grains that are provided to them by my little brother. Actually, he is a very responsible boy and I really appreciate his efforts in this great refreshment for all the members of the family.

You can see in the above pictures that the parrot is eating the seeds of the Pearl Millet which is actually the favorite food of all species of parrots. All the species of parrots, no matter they belong to which continent are fond of the Pearl Millets that are in the form of small grains.

Besides these pearl grains, my parrot also eats other food like the grains of some seeds like sunflower seeds and seeds of various plants. It is very interesting to know they the seeds of various plants are given to these plants and they are used to cut off the outer covering of the seeds by themselves and eat the inner seed with great eagerness.

In the above picture, you can see that my little bird (Ozzy) is singing a song that is noising super amazing. The voice of Ozzy is really impressive and this super cool voice becomes the source of entertainment and refreshment for me and the other members of the family. Whenever we used visit or pass by the cage of parrots, the chirping and singing of these birds sound so sweet in our ears that our minds got refreshed.

Explain your knowledge about animal diseases that can be transmitted to humans (eg rabies and others) from your pets and what steps you take to prevent and deal with them.

There is a number of diseases that are caused and actually transferred from animals (pets) to humans. These diseases are sometimes so severe that they can even cause severe critical situations in human beings and that's why pet lovers must have proper knowledge about these diseases to prevent themselves from the harmful defects of the diseases that are transferred from the animals to the humans.

Some viral and the most spread diseases in human beings from the animals and birds are rabies, cholera, bird fever, Hydatid, Monkey Pox, and many other similar ones. These diseases are spread widely from infected animals and birds to normal human beings. Actually, in the ruler areas of various countries, the common men come so close to the animals and birds that they are infected by these diseases virally.

Psittacosis

Being a medical student, I have learned some of the diseases that are in concert with birds and especially parrots. One of them is the most important to discuss here as this disease is spreading on a wide range day by day. This disease is known as the 'Psittacosis' disease and it spread from birds, especially parrots to human beings and infects various parts of the human body.

This disease is caused when the contact between the open parts of the human body like the Nose is so close to the infected birds that the virus made its way inside the body and directly infects the lungs and may cause inflammation in the lungs. This may cause pneumonia.

This disease is also known as the 'Ornithosis ann Parrorts Fever' in various classes of the medical field and this is one of the most common types of the disease that is infecting people who are holding parrots and other birds as pets, farmers are also equally infected by this disease.

Precautions

The following precautionary measurements are very important for the control of this disease, as well as, other diseases that are transmitted from animals or birds to human beings.

• There should be hygienic environmental conditions for the pet birds and animals.

• The infected or ill parrots and other birds and animals should be kept separate from the other species.

• There should be proper treatment for the diseases of the birds and animals. Whenever a bird, parrots, or animals are infected, they should be consulted with the doctors of veterinary sciences so that proper treatment is possible.

• The food that is provided to the pets should be free of germs, infectious matters, and other harmful things.

• There should be proper arrangements for the regular check-ups of the pets so that the infections could be treated properly and timely.

Pets are a very important part of the lives of some people and luckily I am also one of them. When there are such pets in the lives of human beings they help them to learn from the beings and in return, help humans to develop various behavioral impressiveness in them.

I also have a pet named by me "Ozzy" and it is a parrot actually. I love my parrot and have arranged for the basic needs of the parrot. There should be some proper arrangement for the proper diagnosis and treatment of the diseases that are transmitted from birds and animals to humans so that these infectious diseases could be controlled properly.
