Hello to everyone in this wonderful community today. It is a wonderful Tuesday morning and also a great day to start an engagement contest. I welcome you all to the kick-off of the long awaited season five engagement contest.
Today I will be dropping my posts as recommended by this community, we are to talk about our various traditional wear and hence I will have to hit the road as soon as possible. Now journey with me on this one as I begin.
WHAT ARE YOUR NATIVE WEARS AND TALK ABOUT THEM IF THEY ARE MANY.
I hail from the indigenous country called Nigeria where various cultural and traditional wears are seen on a regular and also different states, tribes, and ethnic groups have their traditional wears but for the sake of time, I will be talking about just 3 of my traditional wears which I will be taking one after another.
The ankara traditional wear is a beautiful wear in which we get to see people in Nigeria mostly opt-in for. The wear is usually collected from different traditional designers who often come out with different designs for each ankara.
The ankara traditional wear is mostly gotten as a result of weddings, naming ceremonies, thanksgiving and other forms of celebration which the celebrant would like to spot his or her people among the congregation. The ankara wear is also used in graduations and send forth, it is also used to recognize people in a body or a particular tribe.
As you can see from the above image, is the ankara wear which I and my friends had on when we attended a wedding in my state, and this ankara was made solely for the bride's family and hence we got recognized as people from the bride's place just at a glance. So you see, it is a unique dress that symbolize a particular thing when been spotted a person.
Now here is another traditional wear, it is called AGBADA. This is a traditional wear that was derived from the west region of Nigeria. The agbada wear is a well respectful traditional wear that is not being put on by regularly people, you have to earn this.
Now the normal native wear is a casual wear that every random person can put on. Yes it is a traditional wear with no specific group it has been allocated to, so as such it is considered to be a wear of many people.
The normal native wear can be wore to occasions and normal day to day activities and event such as Church, Mosque, and School. It not that special as though it is seen on a regular basis on the body of individual almost on a daily basis.
I also have some of it and as you can see from the image above, some native wears which I have and I am currently wearing them to either school or Church, even to work as the case may be but it looks nice and go to put on.
HOW MUCH CAN ONE COST? GIVE THE PRICE DETAILS BOTH IN YOUR LOCAL CURRENCY AND STEEM
As traditional wears, they all have their respective price value and that is why some of them have higher value and are made priority than the others, so I will be highlighting their price value according to how their cost which I will be doing in a tabular form.
TYPE OF TRADITIONAL WEAR | COST IN (NGN CURRENCY PRICE) | COST IN (STEEM CURRENCY PRICE) |
---|---|---|
ANKARA | 4000 NGN | 25 STEEM |
AGBADA | 25000 NGN | 151 STEEM |
NORMAL NATIVE | 3000 NGN | 19 STEEM |
As we can all see from the above table is the price value of the traditional wears I have highlighted and as we have noticed, the agbada traditional wear is the most expensive among the rest and that is why it is exceptional and not seen regularly on people.
WHAT IS THEIR DURABILITY?
From the price of each of them we can sure tell how durable they are. Yes they all have their various capacity in terms of durability but definitely we know that one's durability superceeds the other in the standing the test of time.
The ankara and the native wear have same durability and can last for a certain period of time and this depends on the fabrics they were made off, sometimes we get lucky by getting them when they are being made up with good fabrics for they last longer at least 2-3 years when been made with strong materials.
The agbada is the strongest of them all and that is the main reason why it is more expensive then the rest. Using such kind of money to purchase an Item one is rest assured of the quality and durability. So it is strong and can also stand the test of time between 4-6 years.
DO YOU THINK IT CAN ALLOWED TO BE WORN IN OTHER PLACES?
Yes, they are all clothes right. it just that as a grown up, one should know the kind of wears he or she wishes to put on when going to a particular event or occasion.
As seen from the above image of the agbada it is so big and with the large size I will not be comfortable if I happened to wear it to school, also I won't be Lively due to I wouldn't be so free. As such it can be only put on when going to other places.
But the ankara and normal native can be worn for any event at all, be it school, church, mosque, wedding occasion, and meetings.
ARE THERE ANY SIMILARITIES BETWEEN YOUR LOCAL WEAR AND OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD?
We do have similarities between my local wear and other parts of world especially among Africans. There are wears that looks similar to that of Nigerians if we cross check in some countries, countries like Ghana, Uganda, Algeria, Cameroon, and others do have similar wears with Nigeria.
CONCLUSION
It feels so great talking about traditional wears which actually shows a great sign of patriotism. What a wonderful contest that has been organized in this community where we get see see different traditional wears from different people in different countries.

You are welcome..
I think that agbada is a good traditional dress. Agbada is loved by the Yorubas. The ankara traditional wear you put on is very nice and it's fitted. It makes you look very attractive, and the lady next to you looks very attractive too. Best of luck to you.

Agbada clothes look very elegant and beautiful to look at. Of course every region has clothes that are not worn every day and that are worn on special occasions.
