Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W1|My traditional Wear: Smocks and Kante by @mukka
Hello good afternoon to you all. I hope you are doing great. I am also fine by his grace. It’s a great pleasure to be part of this challenge. I am here to talk about my traditional clothes. Every tradition and whatever clothes they wear.my regards to @hot.news for this great challenge.
And that is their culture, the way of life of the people. Every country, every ethnic group, every tribe and their native wear. I, a proud Dagbomba girl loves to wear my traditional clothes.
What are your native wear Names? Talk about each of them if many?
We have different types of native wears, Ghanaian attire consists of the smock and Kente cloth.Kente cloth was made in Ghana's southern region. The coverall is made of hand-lingered strips prominently called Strip Fabrics. The picture below shows how the Kante, a traditional wear for women is been put on.
How much can one cost? (Give price both in your local currency and steem)?
The male smock which is called Bingmaa in the northern part of Ghana has been selling the native dresses in yards, one yard is 90 ghana cedis, two yards is 180 ghana cedis and so on. That’s for only the material. Assuming you bought 4 yards which will be 180 Ghana cedis, you gave it to a tailor and paid 100 ghana cedis for the sowing, then all will sum up to 280 ghana cedis which is equivalent to 130 steems.
That is only for the top and same applies to the down. But the down will be less costly to the top. The down is 200 ghana cedis which is equivalent to 91 steems. For the lady, if you don’t want to sow it you can just tire it up like my little sister did.
Do you think it can be allowed to be worn in other places?
Yhs. Of course, my traditional wear will be accepted in every country, every where and anywhere. Most people like it a lot especially those from different countries come to my country just to try it on their body.@karianaporras I will like you to come try our native clothes. It will look good on you, I think.
Are there any similarities between your local wear and other parts of the world?
Not really, our culture makes us different. The way we live are different. Every part of the world and their way of life. The way we dress, our language, our clothes, how we celebrate festivals and holidays are different. But will be similar to some countries. For instance, the Eid-fir is celebrated by all Muslims around the globe and we all wear similar clothes for that.
What is their durability?
At work, I wear these smocks every day to protect my regular clothes from everyday dirt, ink, and other debris. They are true to size, the short sleeves don't get in the way, and the horizontal button holes prevent buttons from randomly popping open. The fabric is durable and washable.
The majority of southern Ghanaian ethnic groups, including the Akan, Ga, and Ewe, wear Kente cloth, the country's traditional or national garment.Throughout the continent, various tribes are proud of their national attire, which they wear for special occasions and ceremonies. There are many different kinds of dresses, and the material used to make them all have a big impact on how they look.
I invite @mukadas @kawusada and @babadawuda to join this contest.
