Greetings fellow steemians, I hope everyone is fine, compliments of the season to y'all. I just wish to write about the recently played world cup though it's more than a week now.
The world cup is an international football competition played by different various national football teams, and takes place after every four years.
The recently played would cup matches was such an interesting and great competition which at the end of it all ended and came out with the winner of the FIFA world cup competition.
The journey to the world cup all started with various national football country side teams that played to qualify for the 2022 FIFA world cup. After the competition for the world cup qualifiers, 32 teams qualified including the host nation, Qatar where the world cup was hosted.
The qualifying teams were grouped into 8 groups which were group A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H.

These 32 teams in the photo above in their groups played what we call the group stage matches to come out to the knockout stage which were left with 16 teams. The 16 teams played the round of 16 to qualify for the quarter finals. These 16 teams are: Netherland, USA, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Croatia, Brazil, South Korea, England, Senegal, France, Poland, Morocco, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.

The teams played and won the other teams to proceed to the quarter finals. Where Netherland won USA and qualified for the quarter finals, Argentina won Australia and qualified, Croatia won Japan and qualified, Brazil won South Korea and qualified, England won Senegal and qualified, France won Poland and qualified, Morocco won spain and qualified, and Portugal won Switzerland and qualified for the quarter finals.

Then moving on to the next level, which was the quarter finals, we had Netherland, Argentina, Croatia, Brazil, England, France, Morocco and Portugal competing in the quarter finals to qualify for the semifinals.

Which you can see in the photo above that Argentina defeated Netherland to move on to the semifinals, Croatia defeated Brazil, France defeated England and Morocco defeated Portugal.
The Morocco vs Portugal match was a very great match that the viewers were shocked and surprised that Portugal was defeated by Morocco an African country.

Now talking about the semifinals which at this stage determines which two teams meet and play at the finals, wow!
In history of the FIFA world cup, no African team has ever reached the semifinals but Morocco said NO! and broke that record for the Africans. So at this stage we had to see Argentina vs Croatia competing in the semi's and France vs Morocco competing too in the same semi's.
Which at the end of it all Argentina showed Croatia that they weren't their mates to even qualify for finals so Argentina defeated Croatia with 3 goals to nil easily and the France team defeated the African team Morocco with 2 goals to nil which made Argentina and France qualify to the 2022 FIFA world cup finals.

There was a third place match that held on Saturday 17th of December before the finals which Croatia played against Morocco, but unfortunately for the African team, Morocco, Croatia defeated them and it all ended 2-1, which made Croatia to be the 3rd best team in the FIFA world cup.

The photo of the finals against Argentina vs France.

The finals between Argentina and France was held on the 18th of this month , Sunday it was a very great and interesting match competition to watch. The match started and Argentina were leading with 2 goals to nil in the first half with Messi scoring the first goal as an awarded penalty and Di Maria scoring the second goal. Coming back for the second half of the game, the both teams played until the 79th minute which was left with only 11 minutes to go but luckily for the french team, they were awarded a penalty, and Mbappe was the player to play it and he scored the penalty changing the score line to 2-1, in the next 1 minute, surprisingly, Mbappe scored the second goal for his team making them to draw 2-2 with the Argentines, wow! This was a great shock to the whole world watching the match. The first 90' ended in draw, so they came back for extra time, in the first half of the extra time Messi scored for Argentina leading France with 3-2, the in the second half of the extra time, Mbappe equalized with a penalty for France making it 3-3, then the extra time ended with a draw and the both teams went for penalty shootout, it was at this point Argentina was able to defeat France with 4-2 penalties and behold the Argentina team won the 2022 FIFA world cup.

This was my best world cup ever I've watched and I'm really anticipating the next world that would happen in the next four years, 2026.
