12 days ago, I posted my prognosis for group B in FIFA world cup 2022 and expected that England will top this group with 7points and will be qualified to next phase with Wales.

But nothing is sure in football, everything is played in the stadium during the 90 minutes of the match. USA is qualified to the next phase while I was expecting that it will exit the competition with 0 points

What happened during the last round?

In this group, I want to highlight two matches, the one between Iran and England and a second one between Iran and USA, much anticipated by many. I'm not talking about football fans or football supporters. In this game, we were talking more about politics.

Against England, the Iranian players refused to sing their national anthem, a symbolic gesture of defiance to power.

In the stands, a woman held up a jersey bearing the name of Mahssa Amini and the number 22, paying tribute to the young 22-year-old student arrested and detained by the morality police for "indecent dress" (a misplaced veil).

Also before their last game against USA, some rumors swirled the Iranian players families were threatened if they did not sing the national anthem or if they show any signs of protest against the Iranian regime.

Team Iran won a game against USA in a previous World Cup, politics is never far from football. Ayatollah Khamenei gloats: “Tonight, the mighty and arrogant adversary felt the bitter taste of defeat. President Khatami prefers to remember the success of this match as a "symbol of national unity". what about World Cup 2022 Iran-USA's game? Team USA wins this shock in more than one way then ;)
